What would it take to bring Sungard back on track?

Could this company somehow miraculously get back on track again?

AB did nothing but travel the country, eat well and spend the company’s money. He did nothing. There is no inside sales, it all went to India, and bless their hearts, they have no clue. The haven’t been trained on internal sales processes and don’t understand how to sell or build customer relationships. Their focus has always been to manage an issue raised by a customer.

That was just one of the regular trolls. There was nothing to materialize, it was all a lie. I think AB was one of the good guys, for sure. Once he was gone it became even more clear, very quickly, that it was time to move on.

What happened to the top secret plan that head of sales AB dreamed up that was all the buzz on this site last year? They were supposed to be dusting that thing off then buckeling up for the ride to riches. Seems like something failed to materialize.

They should have let that inside sales team to run the show.

@2gbz

and then put their point people on another continent

At this point, they've run things so far into the ground we'll be outsourcing to Sleestaks.

Nope. It's toast. Nothing new and relevant of our own. Not enough value added to others.
Gone are the days of taking another company's products, stripping them of their most desirable functions, hampering the end user experience, and marking it up 50% higher than the customer could get the fully-functional product for, directly. OH, and then put their point people on another continent?
You just can't get away with that sort of thing any more. At least not with any customer doing proper due diligence.

I think we should have all our customers come into 401 for a boxing match between HG and MR. For the entertainment they will commit an extra months MRR

Probably good to change the marketing and sales pitch to stop saying SGAS is an industry leader. People are not falling for these old marketing slogans any more and it makes the company look really silly. Kinda embarrassing when competition is doing so good. Rebranding and a name change might even help fool customers. Lol

You lost your chance back in the early A Stern years when hotsite started its decline. You couldn’t fill the gap with R2C or MRP at reduced margins and the valuation done by VC back in 05? was delusional so zero significant investment was going to be made as revenue started to decline.

Speaking from hindsight, focus, focus! Focus on one damn thing and get darn good at it
Get rid of the LT in it's entirety! Evaluate the trends in your industry! Hyperscale DCs, look at locations with cheap and or subsidized power for the flagship DCs. Ki-l off anything hotsite or workplace in declining areas. Hook up with major players and get wholesale space to do wholesale colo. Forget MS altogether. Instead of selling sg branded aws, get onramp to them instead.

What would it take to bring Sungard back on track?

Maybe a daily hour of prayer.

Sure. Here are a couple. Lots more if the LT just asks employees

Replace ENTIRE leadership with people who know what they are doing
New (qualified) board
Communicate fully WITH employees rather than barking at them. LISTEN TO EMPLOYEES but not through silly surveys!
Stop wasting money on consultants who don’t have a clue
Add employee ownership
Consolidate all data centers into just a few better utilized locations
Find out what innovative solutions customers and prospective customers actually want and implement the solutions
Move ALL back room functions to one location… US, Phoenix, NY, Philadelphia, India, UK, Philippines… pick ONE and hire someone to Really make it work.
Communicate the budgets and achievements throughout the organization honestly
Competitively bid ALL vendor contracts
Invest in data center people rather than executives
Cut the folks who don’t add value (HR, Legal, Compliance, etc.)
Outsource ONLY when it truly adds value
Eliminate workplace - just stop doing rather than trying to sell something no one wants.
Replace the ENTIRE sales organization
If you promise to do something then DO it.

In other words…. Its pretty much hopeless with the current leadership and owners. (Because ya’ll had a chance after bankruptcy #1. Customers won’t be very forgiving with the current THREE new bankruptcies.)

It's not possible. We need products that are in demand at fair prices along with ON shore support staff. The prior CEO said, at least 6 years ago.... This is the year we turn the corner. We still haven't turned. Some months we drop 1 million in revenue from the prior month. This rate of Exodus will accelerate now thanks to the Administration and Bankruptcy processes now underway.
