Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Bye bye ASU

Announced this morning...POLS is losing its biggest partnership, ASU, in June 2023. That's 250+ advisors and leaders that will be losing their jobs next year. But let's face it, we knew this was coming. Ineffective leadership all recycled from UOPx. Even the new senior director.

@qbx+1gkpge40 It's bad. Imagine waking up & finding out? But it's the right thing to do. /s

There is no choice but to focus on other areas but that doesn't mean you'll have a job. You probably won't. Lay low enough not to get fired and create your future. Because the equity minded (read: private equity) ones certainly are.

Sadly, what we all kinda knew has now unfortunately become true. Poor leadership and some head scratching decisions now leaves Pearson bleeding out with multiple incisions! I turn to this page as a place of confession, our only saving grace comes through MVU at the hands of Allison Jesson. Can she alone raise Pearson from the grave all while maintaining Pearson’s standards of being humble, honest, trustworthy, bold and brave ! Or do we dig deep into Pearson’s past and turn to that tiny fellow, our once fearless leader known as David Botello? What about the recently departed homie who not long ago left this job… you know the one that preferred to polish the knob? His name escapes me at this time but I’m sure it will come to me before the end of this rhyme. The ASU contract is now officially dead and our time is running thin like the hair on JVs head. These next 14 months are going to be awfully sh---y and we can all personally thank good old Smitty! Him along with his band of tards reared up their big fat leg and kicked Pearson directly in the nards! I bid you all farewell and wish you all the best as you navigate this next year of he-l!

I’m just glad Pearson invested tens of thousands of dollars in a 3rd party company to come in and assess our business and identify what might help us grow! Money well spent. I’m guessing this was Smitty’s idea! That S-B helped burn this place to the ground then decided to jump ship knowing he helped Pearson lose the ASU contract. I can’t believe the mo--ns that have been put into power over the last 36 months at this place!

Telling hundreds of people they are going to lose their jobs in June next year but "ask you to continue to focus on delivering our usual first-class levels of service for ASU and all our POLS partners" is a joke and shows that leadership has no idea what they are doing.

People are not going to work with the same level of commitment nor SHOULD they. For any current employee reading this, start applying to places NOW. Get out NOW and don't wait. Use your work hours to research jobs and find something new. Get paid to look for a new job and leave when you have one. Use any and ALL PTO. Heck go on paid leave when you get a new job and collect two paychecks! You do not owe Pearson ANYTHING.

That contract going away doesn’t “unlock” investment- its a 300M per-year revenue loss. Lame PR spin. This means major layoffs, and not just within POLS. If you are smart, use this strong job market to exit Pearson.

If you think them focusing on other contracts is not the worst thing to happen just remember ASU was the money maker and none of the other contracts are making goal. And let's not forget that while JV might go when the ASU contract goes everyone else is still stuck with MS as he continues to voluntarily perform colonoscopies on every contract he's over.

Everyone knew ASU was going away. This will allow Pearson to focus their investments in other areas. Not the worst thing to happen!
