Why does it surprise anyone they contract out mechanical work? They think they get the same work done for 1/2 the labor cost and zero out of pocket for benefits etc. Of course, we all know the work the contractors do is sub-par at best and over billed, but thats ok because it allows NS to show it eliminated x-x jobs.

I see the cars a local contractor in Ohio turn out. The welds are simply atrocious, they frequently mangle the base metal when cutting off bolts, etc. Best of all, they are known to replace parts simply because they are dirty or just lie and bill for parts not even changed. But what do you expect for $19 a hour?

Kathan Nidd will be there bright and early makin $16/hr because he sadly has no other experience at anything else in life. His own venture has failed sadly. Maybe they’ll give him an extra $1 an hour for sweeping the floors with his shoes

Who ever made the call on outsourcing work you are a piece of trash that I hope karma gets you in the end!!! Everything on this railroad can be done in house throughout the system but you just don’t know how to manage it because your college degree ain’t worth sh-t. We have a shop manager that didn’t even know what a traction motor is and still doesn’t know what over half “her” employees do. Hahahah that’s what I call brains rite there!!!

With no union dues and no Tier 2 taxes, you only need to make $15/hr and work 70 hrs a week to bring home the same money. Maybe Genesis will offer a comprehensive healthcare package 100% company paid to make up the difference?

Getting RLS back up and running as non union. All power assembly work will be done at RLS by years end by new tennants and cheap labor.
