I've been furloughed for 2.5 years. Just got called back as a carman. I know what everyone says about NS but I'm going back. I'm tired of working hard for less money. Weekends and first shift aren't what they're cracked up to be. I haven't even been able to see the dentist in 2 years because I had no time off to use. All companies are f'd up not just NS. They will all use you up to make a buck. At least NS never hid it. And don't believe the hype about how much more you'll bring home not paying into RRB. The huge cost of benefits elsewhere wipes that out and then some. You keep your weekends and I'll take 33/HR and we'll call it a fair trade.

Good for you welcome back and Good luck
No thanks… I’ll keep my 38/HR and my first shift and weekends off and call it an even better trade
I just know for me the pay and benefits outweighed the downsides of this terrible company. I meant what I said. It's a fair trade in my eyes. You take weekends and less pay and I'll take more money and a less traditional schedule. No one is the same or values exactly the same things.
Lol. I'm definitely not a stupidvisor. This place is just as bad as I remember if not worse but where I was working during furlough was no prize either. I just know that in this area with no degree it's hard to make what the railroad pays and even harder to get a job that offers anything other than a 401k and benefits that cost twice as much as NS. I wrestled with the decision for a while and decided that it made more sense to come back. Other people in like work situations chose the opposite. I don't think either group is absolutely right or totally wrong.
Clearly this was written by a Norfolk southern manager. You’re not fooling anyone, buddy.
Tell us you don’t have any skills without telling us 😂 chase that $ amount on paper. I know a bunch including myself that make more away from the rr and would never go back.
Thaaats a shame…….
I like not trying to get everything done at the same time as the rest of the world. I've never liked having weekends off. I also hate having to wake up to an alarm so give me nights please. Preferably 3rd shift. Everyone is not the same as you. I guess that's why the schedule at NS never bothered me. Not wanting daylight and weekends doesn't make me a fool. It makes me someone who can figure out for myself what works best for me and my family.
Weekends and daylight are exactly what they are cracked up to be . Your a damn fool .
