Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Bad culture

I know many have said this before but I'm going to reiterate that DST has a lousy culture. We have management that takes every opportunity to make us feel like we're replaceable and unimportant to the company. How exactly am I supposed to get motivated in such an environment? I'm one of the many who are planning to leave as soon as we can.

Bad culture you say? Its actually a hostile work environment. When your unit leader lies about your performance to make you look bad, for a number of reasons, thats about as hostile as it gets. H.R. has know they operate that way for years - but its ok to lie at DST.

DST has years of depressed employees, overworked, unmotivated, unappreciated. Thats why its no longer a industry leader, its been bought by a competitor, it will no longer exist in a few years. Justice has hit the management. They will lose their jobs too!

I question why anyone would want to risk continued employment with this organization. This company is really not stable and employees are at risk of lay-off any given time. This is a company that has been losing clients and employees for years. There is not a hint of career development going on here and they don't seem to be doing much to retain their talent.

It appears that they are just riding out the company, allowing the client base and headcount to shrink while attempting to maintain a profit margin.

Many work at Dst with no encouragement during their entire career. No compliments. No pat on the back. No gratitude for extra work. But when you interviewed, the company promised that type of workplace. It outright fraud! Just to hire you.

SSNC's stock is down considerably over the last 3 months. So to get bonuses based on profitability - more layoffs must come. Chainsaw Al from Sunbeam corp started this. If a company can't make a higher profit - cut costs by layoffs. Then it looks profitable and your execs get their bonuses based on profit. When really the company has no more profit - just less staff costs. DST has resorted to this...employees come last!

My greedy Boss was a money hungry person. I took a fake diamond / cubic zirconium and threw it down outside his office. He saw it, thought it came from the cleaning lady's wedding ring and was keeping it. He rushed out to a jewelry store before lunch hour to get it appraised! It was worth nothing!

Bad culture? Did you not know the whole rank and file was in an uproar in 1983 and called to Unionize under the American Office Worker's Union? The proposal was voted down narrowly. And the abuse continued.

The guy I worked for at DST was just fine, until he found out I was not Catholic. Then everything changed.
