Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Will more companies eliminate wfh?

Heard today Tesla wants work from home employees back in the office. The alternative is to not work there. If this becomes a trend you might expect oil companies to adopt this policy within the next few years.

I love the du----s office employees who whine about not being able to WFH. You can leave anytime, nobody is forcing you have a an office job, you chose it. D-mbasses.

Would they even be able to find enough space at Greenway for the Woodlands people? It would certainly be better to have all people in one campus.

I am more concerned about moving The Woodlands office to Greenway after August. I would work everyday in The Woodlands as opposed to going to Greenway 3 days a week. With the COC expiring I guess we will find out soon.

I am one of those working an EM field position that gets 6 months off per year. I have been working this schedule for many years (best deal in the oilfield). I could never do my job from home, not possible.

If you can WFH you are probably non core with a job that can be out sourced. Be careful what you wish for.

This company will never fully value those who WFH. Best to seek another job where you are core and appreciated.

Forcing employees back to the office is a great way to do a vonuntary lay-off without paying out severance. At present the oil industry is not ready for layoffs because of high oil prices. When oil prices tank in another year you can look for work from home to go away to get rid of marginal employees who don’t want to be with the company.

Don’t be surprised if we keep the WFH Mondays and Fridays, but go back to a 5 day week at 8 hours a day. At some point the employees will not be in the driver’s seat. We never had the mass exodus that many claimed would happen, so that many folks were either bluffing or could not find another job that suited their needs. Like the pserson said below the field employees are out there every day.

Jesus, us field people never had that opportunity, go to work or give up your position. Easy enough!!

The company you mention is NOT a real company like a company that makes or produces things. Sorry, but it isn’t.

who cares what tesla does? That is one company. So many others like AirBnB are saying we will never go back to the office.
