This is nothing new. The Belk family partnered with independent furniture dealers right up through the early 80's. One famous pairing was Belk-Simpson in Darlington, SC. Belk had the downstairs floor and the Simpson family furniture showroom was on the top.

What Syck-of-more is hoping for is what they envisioned with the Mac Cosmetics pairing-- renting selling space to save on monthly overhead. The sales partnership model just doesn't work in the post-modern, internet-driven era. There's only so much bulky, space-taking furniture or appliances you can keep in stock to keep the populace happy.

Have a big sale? Once your weekly/monthly allotment is gone, people get p/o'd when they can't walk in and walk out with the sale items.

Wonder if they'll branch into fresh produce next?

Belk sale marketing will probably use BOGO sale as buy one expensive Washer and get a cheap Dryer for free you think?

Isn’t Conn’s an almost defunct predatory layaway type of store?
