June 8, 2022. Over 100 IT people in Clinical, Quality, and HR Teams removed, entire departments dissolved. These are the core business/tech experts in these fields. Expect a number of key systems related to Clinical Trials and Quality to crash in next 3-6 months or become severely degraded. SAP teams also heavily impacted. A few years ago an SAP crash which lasted a week cost the company millions. Now a similar problem is brewing, but across dozens of key safety and clinical systems in addition to a higher SAP risk. Individuals on teams will find something new-the company though is at greatly enhanced risk.

Someone posted ‘Sean Lennon is the Devil’. It is rather insulting to the devil, being lumped into the same category with that horrible little CIO and his Napoleon complex.
Medtronic’s really should have contacted his previous employers and maybe he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to totally destroy yet another company and it’s IT organization.
This transition process has been planned so poorly that now they are desperately offering those of us who were laid off extensions LOL!! No one is taking them. Zero knowledge transfer has even started to the outsourcing company and our last day is in 2 weeks. This is the biggest corporate incompetence I have ever seen. Truly laughable.
I left in the winter before this hit. Something was off and I went with my gut. The new guard seems to think they know what they are doing. They think the answer is hiring a bunch of junior CIOs. Another brilliant move was Cognizant as a managed service provider. Cut costs now then pay more later when stuff hits the fan. Shell games at there finest.
Crashes have started already. Last week entire suites of applications unavailable. CIO stated it was because people who don’t know what they are doing are putting too many things to production.
Most of IT will collapse by end of year, CIO will be terminated. Company will not recover.
Medtronic is a joke
I was in IT and laid off a couple years ago. It was a nice push out the door to find something better. Medtronic was great when I started 20 years ago….but lay offs every 6 months is nerve racking and all the good people leave on their own.
Earl is turning over in his grave and his implants are exploding.
Outsource everything to India! What could go wrong! Just because they haven’t mastered electricity or plumbing yet!
Executives should be purged first in any company.
MDT Stock now back to 2016 Levels. Mainly due to various quality and recall issues. You can't cut your way out of that.
I hate this for IT. Are we also thinking more will be impacted?
This is terrible! Prayers to those impacted. May God guide them into new roles that are even better and provide for them during the transition.
I was RIFd as part of this. We are invited to apply for new positions. I checked the job board and the only one available was Washroom Attendant. I applied and they actually scheduled an interview. I showed up and it was an absolutely destroyed men’s room. They handed me a brush and a bottle of cleanser and said “Interview starts now”. Unbelievable! I was a Principal Engineer!
Sean Lennon is the DEVIL!
Bonuses also massively cut.
