I'm trying to find a new job as soon as possible. How far are we from layoffs?

This is not layoff. It is actually out.sourcing all the intellectual property and resources to other countries.
HPE cannot compete with top 3 cloud companies. More layoffs and more outsourcing.

Wow! LHH really doesn’t want to lose that fat check from HPE. LHH’s resume service “might” be helpful if your resume is trash but it didn’t help me. If you upload your resume to LHH’s database, it will end up in a virtual trash bin in the void. One person did find my resume and wanted to recruit me for a job at a Dollar General in Nowhere, Arkansas (I’m not kidding). Finally, I was able to land a good job through LinkedIn and word of mouth. LHH “might” find you a job stocking “Dogs Playing Poker” paintings at Dollar General but don’t hold your breath.

I literally just got hired in late May, along with 1 more on the same team. I really hope I’m not the first one gone since I am the newest and youngest in my org.

Personally, I found LLH’s services to be of no help whatsoever. I uploaded my resume to their database and I was contacted by one recruiter for several low paying jobs that required relocation. I did implement some of the LLH suggestions in my resume.

As with all corporate gigs, it heavily depends on your position and org. Some are still hiring, if your team is NOT still hiring, then determine if they are replacing people who you lost, if they are not, look into internal roles. In corporate you are cog in the wheel, but that doesn't mean you can't be a smart and useful cog.

Seriously, people are always talking about WFRs at HPE and that won't change until upper management is replaced. I didn't know mine was coming but I asked for it so I really didn't care. I've heard of people getting hired into another group within HPE so that's possible if you've built a network of contacts.

I highly recommend signing up with LLH Career Transition Services and downloading your resume' for them to spruce up. I gave them a thrown together rough draft and they gave me back a masterpiece. In all they were very helpful and motivating though in the end I decided to give up the corporate B$ for retirement and never looked back!

If you're asking that question, then it's not too far. As soon as I felt my layoff from HPE coming, which was mid-2020, it probably took them about two months to finally tell me. Then they will finally put the last nail your coffin about two weeks later confirming your layoff, saying that you have two weeks to pack up and leave.

They will give you a month's notice, to which they will say that you position "may" be eliminated. I asked my director why the word "may" was used. He said that unless the economy magically jumped back to where it was pre-covid or if we made a multi-billion dollar sale in the org, there's a chance that I would get let go. I asked if it was possible for me to refer me to someone else in the org so that while I can leave the org, I can still can be guaranteed a job. He said no.

But if you are offered a severance agreement, TAKE IT AND RUN... They will pay you a crazy large amount of money to leave the company. If you find a job soon after you are laid off, which you are very likely able to do because we are no longer in covid mode, you are basically the winner in taking the severance agreement. The only contingency about accepting the severance agreement is that you will be on a probationary period where you can't come back to the company for two years. Trust me, you won't want to return anyways. It's been almost two years since my layoff and I have absolutely no desire to come back to HPE.

I was able to flee to HP Inc., right across the street from HPE if you are in Houston. We share the same Toastmasters club chapter so maybe you can network with us that way if you don't know anyone. It's been far more stable at HP because hardware is always in demand and none of that "as a business" stuff with hardware. Short term strategy is also improving customer experience with software, which is something HPE is failing to provide. See, unlike HPE, HP has given us a lot of random off cycle bonuses, and we got a really nice raise from last year.

Anyways, I'm digressing. You'll be happy anywhere else after HPE. Get your resume ready for anything. You'll also realize with your new job, HPE was severely underpaying you. When I joined HP, they not only started paying me $10k more, they also "promoted" me to the next skill level.
