They want you to stay until the time is right to replace you with a H1B worker or move your job outside the U.S
I have to think the main benefit is to give them more control over your comings and goings and pressure you into longer working hours. And frankly, to give you less opportunity to engage in remote interviews as they don't want you to leave.
I’ve had 3 people this week pull me aside during connect week to tell me how good people left and are making so much more at other banks and how I should leave too because I’d make a lot and do well.
I think they are making the attrition much worse by forcing people into the office like this.
I have two interviews next week for more money and more remote.
Thats exactly why they're doing it. Can't leave it the managers to work out what's best for their team. There's no reason to have everyone come in the same 4 days and isn't possible for many teams due to desk sharing plus offshore team members.
