Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Going to a non-tech industry

I saw here many people writing that after their experience at HP they switched to a non-tech industry. I'm actually thinking about it myself. However, it would feel very odd because I have been in this industry for a long time.

That's why I would like to hear as many experiences as possible from those who changed the industry. Why did you decide on such a switch?

You will be better off switching to non-tech industry. I did.

I went to the utility industry. Most businesses need IT, supply chain, business analysts, financial analysts, etc.

You should give it a try! As long as you have the soft skills required, it doesn’t matter which industry you are in. Maybe steeper learning curve but I am sure you can overcome it.

I went from hp to a component manufacturer and is still learning well. The reason for switch is current workplace is nearer to home.
