Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Race weekend is making me pissy all over again

I was corporate staff until the March layoffs. They put me through he-l with the number of hours and stress that I had in my life. I have a much healthier job now. Yet, race weekend is bringing back the anger.

It’s a big deal and a big event. I was supposed to have free tickets for my spouse and I. For some reason, I convinced myself that it helped to make up for all of the sh-t I put up with day over day. Then it was all taken away during a cold and heartless 20 min meeting that fateful morning. It was going to be a fun date night. A time to see my first Indy race in awesome seats. And a great concert. F U Hy-Vee.

I’m looking forward to the end of the weekend so I don’t have to hear about it any more.

So Hyvee spent ten million on this race weekend,IT ALL CAME FROM THE PAY CUTS AND MONEY THEY SAVED BY FIRING SO MANY PEOPLE IN THE LAST FEW YEARS. PATHETIC.

Easy to you my man,Best grocery chain, not even close you have a long ways to go before you can claim that title.A nation wide chain, that will never happen.Ypu dont have the capital to even come close to that.Keep drinking the koolaid. All that money should have been invested in the stores and the employees instead of firing them and laying them off. What a pathetic company.

Was Mark (I'm a star....I'm a star, I'm a star, I'm a star, I'm a big bright shining star) Wahlberg there at the race this weekend ramming it to Randy?

Hyvee recently sold some properties and then turned around, and leased them back. The only time a company does this is to raise cash....so they canlook favorable in the eyes of bankers for expansionary purposes. Please tell us this wasn't done to pay for an ego out of bounds race weekend expenses.

PLEASE tell me that comment about New York to California wanting HyVee's was sarcasm. If it wasn't, you're obviously a talking head in the chain. EVERY store that I deal with, and there are many, are dumpster fires. Inadequate help, horrible management, lack of hours. I could go on and on. Your business model is broken. Your egomaniacal president will out spend the income. Why isn't the expansion taking place? Get down to store level and see what the common folk think.

Easy my man. Why don’t you just worry about the store and let the leadership do their job. With this HyVee sponsored race HyVee will be know across the United States and also around the world now as the best grocery store chain on earth. We now have people from New York to California wanting Hyvee’s built in their cities. HyVee will be a nation wide chain soon because of events like this. Keep the vision going Randy E. You are truly a visionary when it comes to grocery store growth. 100% we believe in you randy.

Biggest waste of money ever. Know your customer. How does sponsoring a race/team get HyVee more customers? It doesn't. Just a big ego boost for all the worthless talking heads. Worst run grocery chain in the midwest. Greed is a horrible thing. HyVee will soon learn that the hard way.

This is Randy's moment in the sun for Indy car -- it's all downhill from here. We saw it with the triathlon, with Curtis Stone, with the Wahlbergs. A big splash, and then when the inevitable pull-back comes, it will fade away and he'll be on to his next big idea. Media reports say he spent $10 million on this weekend -- if they're admitting to that much, you can bet it's easily 2x that. Not sustainable, when you have to put the sqeeze on your suppliers to fund it. What about that recession Hy-Vee claimed they were getting ready for?

Hope the execs enjoy their folly this weekend, for the demise of the company is all on them. Think what these mIllion's of dollars spent on all this Indy cr-p could do for employee morale if just a fraction of it was given to them. Is it any wonder Hy-Vee is ranked as one of the most toxic places to work in America.

Oh, and their star, Harvey has yet to finish in the top ten in any race this season.
