Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

We need a younger workforce

I know I'm going to get hate for this, but it needs to be said. There are too many old people working at State Street who are holding the company back by being stuck in the old ways and resisting any kind of change, even when it would be beneficial to everybody involved. I understand some might be used to doing things a certain way, but if that way has been outdated for years and you refuse to even consider making some changes, there is something seriously wrong with that picture. We need younger people who are willing to take chances and break the status quo we've been stuck in.

Send all project management work to India and Poland. Big cost savings there.

Silly poster, lol

Yes try and tell State Street mgmt how they are doing things the old outdated ways
Yes try and tell them your ideas, and you will see they will never be implemented.

Now after you tell them your views do not be surprised if doing the next wrong of layoffs your name is on the list.

You will be put on the Troublemaker list

They lie on job descriptions to get people in saying hybrid but then they force employees to do things like ‘connect week,’ where they force everyone back to the office everyday a a week a month.

Seriously, younger equals better? It's not the age of the staff it's the ego of managers who dont want those under them to outshine them and fear of reprisal for pushing back on bad ideas or unrealistic timelines that drives what's done, or not done the best way. There are plenty of young workers, bulk offshore. The issue isn't the older workers, it's the management.

Question for you, why are U.S companies bringing in H1B workers ??

Answer to save money.

Their is no shortage of highly skilled U.S workers, just U.S workers who want a
fair and liveable wage.

We need the older, experienced folks, at the same time younger folks with fresh ideas are needed in the C suite and EVP levels.

I would have to both agree and disagree. IT needs young workers trained in current skills. As noted above, China is filling this gap.

The loss of knowledge and outsourcing in operations has created IMO a serious knowledge gap related to general understanding of custodial services.

If it is up to you, you will just move State Street from Boston to Beijing.
We are already hiring every student from China to State Street since 2005.

Yes us old times who have 15,20,25 years of knowledge base when it comes to
hardware,software, apps and business models.
The ones who trained the new hires and how to do things.

Yes we are stuck in some very bad habits, we believe in the following.

  1. Showing up on time, not 10+ minutes late like new hires.
  1. Taking our 1 hour lunch break, not the 70,80, 85 minute lunch break new hires do
  1. We believe when we are in the office it means we are suppose to work, Unlike
the new hires which believe. Stopping to take calls on their cell phone, check, text and emails.

Yes the old timers who have something new hires do not have, a work ethic

And if you read the business news State Street has been outsourcing and using H1B workers for the last 20 years.
So the only young hires are outside the U.S

Outsourced jobs are filled by younger people in India, China, Poland, Costa Rica so stop complaining.

I agree with you. As someone young here myself I will say that others realize they get paid more at other companies and are actively headhunted for it. State street has settled for low pay for older workers where it’s not as easy to just jump ship and find something better. You can see how that has played out in how fast business does anything.

Actually state street needs more American workforce and less outsourcing.
