Is Accounting the only department that gets to tryout the Balanced Workplace Plus Program?

It's surprisingly hard to hire for empty positions because good candidates now work from home full time and do not need to go into an office to do a job extremely well.
When the successful wfh pilot ends in a few weeks will accounting then be back in the office or still work from home full time while other areas are being surveyed to give their reviews of accounting during the pilot period and until a decision is made for the other areas?
This is badly being dragged out. People should be given a choice, but the in-office choice should not be seen as the option that gets you further advanced in the position when the job doesn't need face to face interactions to accomplish it. Less face to face immensely aids most tasks to be completed faster. We have already been working remotely with people in other cities for decades, many we have never seen in person and never will because it is not needed.
I hope that’s true! ⬇️ I heard something was going to be announced Sept / Oct and was kinda bummed nothing came up yet. Won’t hold my breath.
Heard something is brewing and details to be announced before the end of the year. Money on Wednesday being an option.

All wanting full time work from home should just be fired.
Haven’t heard anything bad from those who are on the schedule, accounting is in the office this week Tue / Thur … hopefully it’s extended to other departments soon.
How is this going for the accounting team? Hopefully great and we can all get a chance in the near future for WFH. I did hear that we could live in places maybe different from our home office as long as it is near a Oxy office somewhere else? Anyone else hear of that?
You are welcome to work from home full time. The work would not be company work and would consist of lawn work, sweeping, mopping floors, and cleaning toilets. It would pay zero dollars.
Hope this is expanded to ther areas soon.
So when might the pilots success be enough to extend it to other departments? How long do we have to wait?
!
Please extend the fully WFH option to everyone very soon. The past two years have been more than enough proof.
This is offensive to those of us who actually worked in our careers.

Yes. Still have the 9/80 option when WFH. Fantastic.
One thing. IF you do the WFH option are you still to get every other Friday off? I would be willing to give that up for the options shown.
This only works for bean counters. For G&G it would never work. But why not just fire everyone and hire contractors. They generally are more talented and you don’t have to train them. They may be more expensive on a daily rate but you can turn them on and off. Also there are few HR issues since they don’t get rated, ranked, and pummeled around like employees.
Please please please accounting don’t sc--w this up! I really do work when I’m at home and can use the extra 2 hours of my commute to not feel like I’m drowning in work. Once I leave work and sit in traffic for an hour it makes it hard to go home and log back in after being hot and angry.
Yes, this is a real program. They gave accounting employee 4 options:
- Work your 9/80 and go to office everyday
- Continue M/F at home, Tues-Thurs in office
- Only go in on Tuesday and Thursdays
- WFH only going in 2X per MONTH
This is absolutely fantastic, and tried to appeal to everyone’s needs (if you want to work from office do so, if you want to work from home, fine).
It’s a 6 month pilot program but I don’t see how they don’t extend this out to everyone in 2023.
Accounting got through 2 years of WFH, don’t see how they sc--w this up.
Wish them the best so we can all enjoy the benefit!
Very proud of OXY for being forward thinking in this regard. Great for retention and recruiting.
I am going to be 65 next year and planned to retire. My job is great and my managers are as well, but the driving 100 miles round trip are getting tough even at three days a week. Moving closer to work in Houston is not an option for me, so working from home really helps prolong my career which is great. There really is no reason to retire if working from home, and I will be pulling for the accounting team to help make this work for all of us. I am also very glad Oxy management is flexible and at least trying a pilot program.
I sure wish accounting the best in this pilot program. Do us all proud and make it work. I think it is a great way to cut down on leasing expenses and stop wasting that money as well. We could all share open spaces when in the office and just sit down at an open space while in the office. You could have separate meeting rooms as well like all the ones on the third floor at the Oxy Tower in The Woodlands. I had a friend that worked on the Exxon campus in IT support. She wouldjust go in to a large area full of docking stations and sit in a different place each time. I for one do not need an office if we are just going to be there a few times a month, and I am sure many others would give up their Oxy office for the one at home.
Yes it sounds amazing I really hope they roll this out to other departments!
Heard from other sources that this program is legit. Wonder what other business units are trying it out. Would like to hear additional details from someone in the program if they are willing to share.
Pajama party meeting on Teams tomorrow.
@ 3jar+1hdT4rYs is pulling your leg. Come on man!
Kind of proving the job can be offshored. They have accountants in India as well. I am sure the first ones laid off would be the full-time WFH since it would be hard to get them back in the office.
This is totally disgusting. If you want to get paid get your body physically into work. Layoffs are around the bend. The people who will survive are those who actually can be seen at work. You cannot sue unless you can tie your lay-off to discrimination in the legal categories( race, religion, age, etc). You could be let go because they simply don’t know you even though you do acceptable work from home. Grow up and get into the adult world.
We get an option of Full time WFH coming in twice a month, twice a week Tue/Thur or come in everyday - this is a Pilot Program starts next week through end of year
What is the new program?
