I work in Global Technology and whenever I asked someone how they are doing I get a defeated, "ah, ya know" or "hanging in there" or half-hearted "good". It didn't used to be like this, most people I interacted with used to be enthusiastic and happy, now everyone is miserable and overworked and it really shows. Is this unspoken misery everywhere throughout the company, in the businesses?

It is so bad that I am a consultant / contractor who is looking for full time, and who got offered to convert to a full time employee in PGIM (which supposedly is pretty unusual), and it’s so dreadful that I actually said no, thank you, I will just finish the contract and move on.
And somehow they can’t understand why or how I could possibly turn them down.
In this case don’t actions speak much louder than words?
There is a lot of unhappy people here.
Of course! PGIM, Prudential's special money making unicorn child. I'd be happy too if my department got the white glove treatment, but alas I'm in a cost center. Instead, I get to address PGIM requests for things they needed yesterday, but only ask for today, and typically have a 10 business day turn around. And of course management insists we address it within their deadline because they're ~PGIM~ so that deadline and stress gets transferred to us.
I'm no longer at Pru but everyone who I know who still works there is extremely unhappy. The only people I know who are not as unhappy are in PGIM. Tons of people in global comms are also over it.
