I was sent to a dealer, with equipment, 5 years ago. Best thing that ever happened! Great dealer that cares about employees, and doesn't micromanage.
As far as equipment, beyond the accounts sold to the dealer, Ricoh also farms out setup, delivery, and service to us on small and large accounts that are Ricoh sold equipment, even though there are still service teams in place in our state.
See the writing on the wall ladies and gentlemen. They would much rather have dealers run service on everything but production.

If they reduce your mif by selling it to dealers is that not a case for constructive dismissal?

I can also confirm this is NOT a rumor. I have seen this first hand and a total quagmire / customer fiasco with intentionally poor communication resulting in billing and service issues. Shocked how the clients were basically cut loose. Just like layoffs this is hard to quantify as junk companies no longer put out press releases about this. Like layoffs it’s now done in slow contained under the radar drips to avoid the bad PR. That might change though as environment is getting dicey.

What dealers are getting the machines? Does anyone have real information or is this all just “fluff”?

Going from direct to dealer is a huge step down in overall support quality.

"Direct techs not “sold” per se but essentially influenced/railroaded into working for the dealer" The techs are assigned to a dealer that got the MIF they worked on. If a tech is made an offer for employment, regardless how it compares to their current compensation, and they don't take it they are denied severance. If the dealer rejects them the tech gets severance.

Direct techs not “sold” per se but essentially influenced/railroaded into working for the dealer. Not much in the way of options for the tech. It might even be a better environment at the dealer: no micro management via Where’s My Tech app… that might have been the plan all along?

What’s happening to the direct service technicians? Are they being sold with the equipment?

It’s happening everywhere. Contact your Ricoh Dealer Operations rep for more info.

Hard to believe since nobody will give info on what machines and where this is happening.

MP, IM… Everything is available but no such thing as free sushi: you either pay $$$ or don’t pay for it, eat it, and go to the hospital… and then you really pay for it $$$$.

Ricoh mif too much money Mr. Dealer? How about I kick in some, “trending statistics” and if you order now I’ll kick in some “sales talk tracks” so your zero experience kids have something smart to say to customers. These talk tracks did n’t work so good for us or we wouldn’t be talking right now but we’ve improved them via so many post-mortems…
My cat yacked up something warm and fuzzy.
