Why is HyVee doing away with all the sliced deli meats now? Why are they getting rid of things that actually sell? Makes zero sense but then again Randy is in charge.

I’m glad you love fairway but do they have restaurants, do they have joe fresh , do they even have an Indy car, basin dept???? Fairway can keep those meat customers and grocery customers. HyVee will see them serve them 5 course meals and basin soaps.
When did this happen? I just worked yesterday and we had deli meat cut. Was there some announcement?

Labor cost to much to have people slice meat behind the counter. The new HyVee way will be like shortcuts for produce. They are in the process of doing the same in the meat dept. They don’t want to cut meat at store level anymore. Next year at this time all meat that goes to HyVee will be pre packaged on all meat cuts. They are saying that will cut a 2/3 of labor by not having to cut meat or work the service counter. Meat service counter will be replaced with multi decks.
