Thread regarding Bose layoffs

I still miss it.

I’ll always look back with fond memories of the years I worked at Bose, especially those early days before plant closings and layoffs.. In spite of all the negativity and talk of sinking ships, nothing compares. I even still have an old jelly jar someplace. Glad I saved it!

Tom (agreed, a great engineer and person) is long retired, as with the majority of that Bose generation and many they brought on board behind them. Many "encouraged" out the door the last few years.

Although the jelly event was a very nice gesture, from some perspectives, it devolved into highlighting the internal caste system in Framingham. I was in Framingham for almost 10 years. However, there was "no jelly for you!" many of those years in my organization.

Life outside of Bose has been super refreshing. Reinvigorated career path, much interesting and impactful work, great, super smart, and diverse coworkers, much more advanced and contemporary culture, much better base pay, compensation, company equity, and more. Yeah, read that again.

If you are still in the industry and really desire a growth path - time to set aside the last century glow of Bose and move out, and onward. There actually are many companies that do compare and do exist in this century.

The peach jam, mixed 50/50 with half-and-half, went right into the ice cream maker. Mmmm ... peach ice cream.

Is Tom still around? One of the many great engineers!

It was a fantastic place to work. I learned a lot while working at Bose and I really enjoyed the people who I worked with. Great engineers who helped me to become a much better engineer today.
I was able to get a very good job after leaving the company. It’s sad to move on, Bose will always be part of all of us. I am proud that I worked there and I am excited about my future and this new opportunity.
I also still have a Jam jar in my fridge. It’s from 2019, it might be time to throw it away.
