One Company, One Team, but different application of policy

I really hope senior leadership reads and addresses this - it is a real problem impacting the talent retention the company stresses they want to improve.

A lot of people have resigned due to geographic restrictions on remote work. This “policy” restricts work from outside a local area (generally DC, PA, WV, MD, VA, and NC). However, it is only apparently only active in certain areas of the company.

Since policy is uniformly applicable to all associates, the non-uniform application goes against HR tenets and the “One Company, One Team” mantra.

Again, this is a serious problem. If the company cannot or will not alter the stance to one of uniformity, then no one needs to hear any more speeches about attracting and retaining talent. Also, talent has been lost due to inefficiencies of HR in nor making timely decisions where associates have competing offers from outside companies in counter offers.

Yes, we understand the tax implications across state lines with a national workforce, but qualified HR and Finance areas at other companies handle this adequately. The result: a detriment to CareFirst talent attraction and retention in a very tight labor market.

The annual "your opinion matters" survey just dropped. Honestly, if you want some of these never-ending calls about culture to stop, just put "agree" and "strongly agree" and move on. Nothing is going to change and it will mean that we don't have to continue to be pulled into mandatory meetings to hear blather.

Why would you expect anyone to voluntarily board the Titantic? If you don't see it by now, you never will until it is far too late.

So many open positions but several have not moved yet on the hiring process. What can be done to get these positions filled.

Suck up to the right people and get recognized and rewarded without regard to skill set or performance. How much did we pay for Most Ethical Company Status?

Gotta love how on one hand, they tout this "new, remodeled office layout" on one of the recent CEO calls. Then right after that, we get a blast email telling people you have to wear a mask while in most of the office locations. So which is it: a great new office space for you to enjoy, or such a dangerous indoor environment that you need to wear a mask? They need to get with the times and understand that WFH has become the norm.

CF’s leadership team only cares about themselves. Get off the ship. It’s sinking! Poor management from the top down, good talent leaves, mediocre or bad talent that fits a profile is promoted. Work place decorum is non existent and backstabbing is encouraged.

It’s 2022 HR folks! Offer remote and you will attract and retain talent. Buildings have been empty for 27 months - no need to bring people back for optics
