Thread regarding Ultimate Software Group Inc. layoffs

6-22 Layoffs

90 employees were laid off yesterday at UKG with zero notice. 60+ of them were legacy Ultimate Software employees based out of Weston FL. Employees with seniority of 23 years were laid off in a 4 minute phone call with HR, and were given no alternatives.

This is after a dozen Account Managers across several states were laid off six months ago.

This is as the company continues to brag about being a multi billion dollar corporation who is making record profits even in the face of the pandemic.

I am disgusted.

I was with Kronos for almost 10 years and was laid off in 2015. They definitely look for older workers because through longevity their salaries were higher. I am saddened to hear about the manner in which the most recent layoffs occurred. They happened the same way with me and others, with a very nervous manager reading from a script, then HR intervenes. I can attest that when one door closes another one opens. Be strong, have faith in yourself and you will get through this.

they are asking 55+ employees to leave voluntarily with sev packages now. If no one takes it, they will probably do another layoff. rip

I joined the company in 2018/2019 while it was merging with Kronos. I'm not surprised by this at all.

I remember seeing unencrypted social security numbers in their databases.

Middle management would move the goalposts repeatedly and was obsessing over the number of open incidents and blaming the employees for not closing them fast enough, but would let their star employees take multiple days off and plan their weddings on company hours, while blaming their employees and guilting them when they needed time off.

I left the company in less than a year, and never experienced the "People First" philosophy I heard so much. I am glad to not be there anymore, but I'm sorry the rest of you had to learn the truth about your company's leadership the hard way. :(

They say nothing lasts forever. But also, aside from not lasting, they die.
I learned about the merger before my brother, (who worked for Ultimate for
over 25 years) passed away. I told him that Ultimate was going to die,
and here we are.

I also know one Noida person that was laid off.

I think there will be more job cuts. I think that we'll eliminate additional 200 before the EYO, it's all to improve cash flow. Nobody benefits from this, they just haven't realized this.

Definitely not the vision that Scott and Viv had; keep your resumes up-to-date folks. As somebody who is still working here, our trust has been rocked.

These are tricky times. Integrations of two companies of same size is just completeting and the org has been re-orged with substantial changes in senior leadership. More layoffs are to be expected.

Big layoff for us, 100 people is a lot. This is mostly Cloud Engineers and some managers.

I am not sure if you are seeing anyone else being cut, but this is what I know.

Good luck all

I am not surprised. I left Kronos in 2019, after 2 years there. The company was so disorganized and the management was not good. Ultimate Software was much better organized but that also went down once they merged with Kronos. Anyhow, last two years were bad.

6/17 the director of my org assured people that there were not going to be layoffs and peoples jobs were safe in a meeting he holds with everyone in his org like monthly or quarterly. 6/22 hes in a meeting with me with HR laying me off reading from a script then handing it off to HR.

My wife was laid off yesterday, she's devastated - this was all so very sudden. The whole layoff could have been done more humanely, this is really bad.
