Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

What’s in store for tgt?

The recent decline in stock value, coupled with fears of a recession creeping in the market have caused huge problems for the company. Consumer spending is at a low. Consumer preferences are shifting away from brick and mortar. Oil prices and inflation in general aren’t helping. The competitors aren’t as badly effected as tgt.

Meanwhile internally, Attrition rates are at an all time high since the pandemic with advent of the so called great resignation. Morale within the teams seems low, with fears of being laid off any day.

I’m sure that all this is causing a lot of anxiety in many of us. I am getting worried myself. What do you feel what’s coming up for the great bullseye?

Stock rules and from the looks of it tgt ain’t doing so well. I’m pulling up my socks and planning ahead. What a mess this is! I’ve seen secret layoffs happen earlier too and it gets gnarly.

The great resignation has messed all the tier 3 and tier 4 companies with mass migration to tier 1 or tier 2. I am anticipating that as the stock keeps falling lower through the course of the recession, we will see an even higher attrition rate.

The layoffs might still be necessary to balance out the sheets, but the cream of the company would have been gone already. Slashing prices does wonders for clearing inventory but absolutely nothing to earn profits.

What is being highlighted in these few months is the necessity for companies to embrace the lean nature of operation.

It’s a sh-t company, don’t waste money on it. Nothing good is coming from it.

Think it’s gonna get pretty bad specially as we enter into recession. The stock market has been pretty rough lately. unless major cuts take place its gonna be very tough to keep the ship afloat.

Of course this is true across the industry, many companies will be facing the same problems. Won’t be easy for people to find new jobs if layoffs do happen in a couple of months.
