It's already happening. I'm part of senior leadership, and I don't like what I see. BP (HR) is checking out and we jostle them around so they don't actually support anyone, and the new replacement BPs are told to take vacation. I'm not talking a few layoffs without performance plans, but hundreds.
It's easier to start noticing deactivated accounts recently. Also, a company wide edict to issue a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) was issued to leads, and anyone not with a positive impact review would be placed on this PIP and given 4 weeks to improve or get fired. This is right before the comp rollout takes effect.
This accomplishes 2 things. Those on PIP are not qualified for the July backpay that staff will get when new compt roll out happens and everyone with a positive rating gets back paid the new salary increase. Second, it weeds out the bad apples, those that spoke out in team times or on slack, anyone dissenting from the CULTure. They can choose to exit you over very petty reasons.
