Massive layoffs soon. Update resume...
These posts are REAL. Each region has different laws to abide to....so specifying country/region is critical.
"Global IT Team. The package is 6 weeks for each year service" I find this hard to believe... I'm wondering if these posts are indeed fake. When I was laid off 3 years ago, I had been there 28 years and received 4 weeks (as did everyone else in our software development group).
Screenshot all the responses, as Avaya deleted many comments. Also, be certain to identify A)Region/Country B)Department/Business Unit, C) Role. It helps give everyone perspective
Yesterday a series of layoffs were done. With the numbers there is no doubt that they will continue. Package is no where near the 60 week cap so be prepared for 6-11 weeks based on years of service and level of position (of course the higher levels get more…imagine that). The “call” lasted less then a minute and then handed over to HR to finish the ki-l. All I can say is that I hope they get treated the same way when their number is called
Layoffs started Monday, my group of 24 engineers had 11 let go
Majority of surpluses haven't been announced yet, major downsizing soon, all areas will be hit...
Global IT Team. The package is 6 weeks for each year service capped at 60 weeks, I was there 18 years
@adai. What group were you in . Since the first of the year, Sales engineers had a 40% reduction, and about a month ago, sales got hit as well.
@adai I'm sorry to hear that. Do you mind telling us when? I haven't heard of any layoffs lately and it would be good to know if small rounds that we don't know about are taking place.
Did you get a good package
I was lay off from Avaya
I hope I get a package and be laid off its not easy doing nothing all day 😩 but at least I get a pay check but it's not easy I kid you not .
Ask your manager to lay you off, they will almost certainly accommodate. With no work they will have to layoff and reduce headcount. If you are laid off you can get your severance package, start collecting unemployment and if vested which many are start collecting your pension. Then get a different job that you like. I don't see anyone getting a severance package after this round. Possibly no contract either next year.
Can you look for a package to go can you be sacked for asking also is your HR manager the correct route to ask..
I'm going to beg my manager to lay me off. Its a dying company.

If you get a VTP offer take it, premise equipment is going away fast
Spoke with management, layoffs are coming. Currently a select few received vtp letters to entice those technicians to leave and reduce workforce. If they do not leave then surpluses will happen.
Also spoke with a contract attorney friend and avaya might be setting themselves up for lawsuits when surpluses are declared in one gca but forcing technicians to be on call for multiple gca's or when the gca's are combined with other gca's for vacation scheduling. Currently dispatch sends a technician to a site depending on the distance from the employees reporting location even if it is in a different gca, causing less work for others and possibly getting laid off. If you are at risk of a layoff and are forced to share on call, vacation scheduling with other gca's then I urge you to contact a contract attorney and see what remedies are possible if not all gca's are in the surplus announcement. Either way prepare, stock is at $2 and changes will happen, possibly getting surplused might be a good thing, I guess it depends on each individuals current situation. I will be sending questions to our union representative to make a decision based on what is best for myself. Good luck...
