Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Coming here was the biggest mistake for me

Wouldn't want to generalize, maybe this is the ideal company for someone. However, it's never before happened to me that I realized after only one month that I made a cardinal mistake when I applied here. How long did it take you to realize that you don't really want to work here?
In my case, an even bigger mistake was that I didn't immediately start looking for something else, but stayed here waiting for something to change.

People the RSU is not that great. Broadcom has pulled the wool over your eyes with what 6 or 7 year vesting cycle??? My new employer doubled what I could sell yearly. Also over 100k base comp increase.,. So even though AVGO stock doubled, I still did better. Actually way better once bonuses factored in. Broadcom will always be the place of industry left overs. People resting and vesting. The type that are very good at giving the illusion of working hard. But in reality don’t want to leetcode to get a better job. Or actually can’t leetcode. I feel those that remain at Broadcom are good at politics, back stabbing friends, then will join them for lunch. After lunch will go right back up stairs and conspire against the very people they just had lunch with. It’s sickening that’s is why I had to leave.

Be as committed to a company as they are committed to YOU.

If you truly are great then you will always get better comp by jumping ship. In fact it is the only way to make more money unless your in bed with Big Blue cronies.

Everyone says how great the money is, and it’s pretty dang good especially the RSU’s. However, there are many companies that will match or exceed it and have a better work culture and career path

Agree, you learn really quickly that this is not a great place to have a career. While the money is good, it is not that good. The micromanagement and the having to explain why I need to work from home or leave early makes me feel like I am covering a McDonalds shift (like I did when I was 16). At 46, I really don't feel like I need to justify if I need to leave early, I will always get the job done.

I'm not even there yet and I already know that it's a mistake.
