Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

How they can even contemplate layoffs is beyond me

We are heavily understaffed and constantly overworked. We're struggling to get things done as it is, and now they're contemplating cutting even more people? There is a point where no matter how many extra hours we work there simply won't be enough of us to get everything done. We're precariously close to that bar now. Layoffs will push us over it for sure.

Ha ha ha. In US, to expect a $60k package is comical! Yet...keep in mind. Layoff accounting is not linear. It's booked differently. Any job loss helps Avayas books. Even if they have to pay some packages. And lawsuits come out of a Risk Fund, not P&L.

Find the backend overly staffed teams of no value add. HR ops, IT, Sales ops, Finance, MIS,Logistics,Tools, Compliance, . Even there is a need to trim R&D and delivery management multi layers which has brought no value add from years.

One of the biggest issues I see is how will Avaya retain talent. Many of the staff that have been working at the company for the last 20+ years is retirement eligible and will go with the right package. They are going to lay people off and the folks that are very good that Avaya would love to keep have been leaving the last two years to our competitors and leaving the Avaya ecosystem as a whole.

I have had many of my coworkers on my team that were VERY GOOD leave the company and no back-fill gets approved so my manager expanded my territory so I have to juggle my original customers and get assigned more. This obviously has to be done because of the financial situation but at the end of the day, these are very complex solutions to architect and design so even if we could hire, it would not be easy to find talent.
Are you guys seeing the same thing as me where work is just adding up not because we are busy or getting more customers but because the headcount is shrinking?

You are NOT a fool! You are an impressive, dedicatee professional. Yet if there aren't severe cuts, the company will not exist. Period. They money is not there. It is very negatively not there. They have manipulated information. And they've borrowed from Peter to pay Paul while surviving on fumes of false truths. This is the consequence. And this is an immovable reality. There is NO magic anything that will change that more than 1/2 of the company/employees will be gone by Oct 1.
