Hewlett Packard Enterprise has come out swinging two months after a $30 million verdict against it in a long-running case, saying claims by Oracle it directly infringed copyrights in the Solaris OS are not backed by enough evidence.

Do you know the difference between operating income and revenue?

In 2021, HPE's operating income was about $1.1B... Who knows how much free cash flow HPE has now but it probably not a lot to sustain for 5 years. I expect HPE to faceplant once their FY ends in October.

$30M may tickle HPE's wallet a little bit but that would be a few hundred people's (or Neri's) salary gone for the year. Remember: time is money.

30 million doesnt seem like much to a company like hpe with revenues of $28 billion. Thats about 0.1%.
