Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

RIF in EMEA has started

It was internally announced that the RIF in EMEA has now started. They have just informed 48 employees in Germany that they are "at risk". Majority of those jobs are in Marketing. It seems that Oracle is completely revamping it's marketing strategy which means heavy downsizing and cost saving (probably to fund this ridiculously overpriced Cerner acquisition). The "hostile" Netsuite takeover continues...

Now the workers council (thank god!) is starting to negotiate with the management and HR about details. Over 1000 further jobs are at risk across the other EMEA countries.

Without a proper marketing strategy Oracle will have no chance against the competition who all understand this industry is a marketing driven one.

"Yes Uk redundancies have truly started, can’t believe they made people wait 5 months for this day to tell them they were being made redundant with no communication."

No different than the US. Once AK and JL were cut, it was crickets. Lots of Zoom calls to allay fears and concerns, but nothing from the top. While other tech company leaders were sharing their thoughts, taking accountability, and soothing customers, LJE, SC, JM, and others do and say absolutely nothing.

ORCL deserves the culture it gets after this.

Does anyone know which other departments are impacted? Or is it mainly marketing and sales?

I was wondering if more RIFs were about to happen. I was part of the August 1st purge. A couple days ago I started getting my initial termination documents again. I suspected they were setting things up for another round.

Thanks for sharing. I work in EMEA Marketing and haven't been hit yet but I suspect myself and/or colleagues will be soon.

I agree with you it feels like a hostile takeover. They do have a new marketing strategy, but not only does it sh!t on all the hard work of the existing marketing teams, there is no clear plan on how it will be implemented, no proof it will work at this scale, less resources available, and it's going to take months (at least) until it's properly up and running. Meanwhile the leadership has stayed silent for months leaving people fearing for their jobs, and at this point I'd dare say many of those people now actually want to get out anyway.

Best of luck to those people in Germany that have been affected. I hope you get the outcome that you want.
