Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Mid year raises for every body

I think it is great that they are giving every 1 a raise right now. Helps to keep more people at the company and helps with inflation. Were you surprised with this news?

More than a few people at HCSC, I know of, are quiet quitting while preparing for and looking for new jobs. Others are just quiet quitting and skating by, which leads to taking forever to get anything done. It is getting bad as good managers are also attacked for speaking out about issues, so everyone just goes along with this.

So my take in the raise for everyone is that it’s just barely staying ahead of the curve when it comes to legislative action that will required 401k contributions (cutting net pay)+ inflation ( cutting how far net pay stretches) HOWEVER I’m not sure taking the API eligible amount and giving everyone a raise when only 3 and above performance normally get a raise is incentive to higher performers. Just seems like more incentive for quiet quitting… There doesn’t seem to be much strategy for identifying who we want to keep vs how we keep people. Just saying

Not sure why someone would say they should take away the increase. I haven’t seen any horrible responses here. The reality is that, while the surprise increase is nice, it still isn’t enough to keep up with the cost of living. And As nice as it is to get more money, there are still very fundamental things that need to change at HCSC. Until those things change, I don’t see a lot changing with attrition. Just my opinion,

"The company should take away the increase then "

This comment is petty and vindictive. Most likely it came from a HCSC VP.

2% to 3% raises are the norm here. That is not keeping up with inflation or the industry for skilled professionals.

I like it except now some of the hourly people make more than their own sups or even salaried people. I’ve heard some of the bva or ca’s bragging about 8-9k raises now making more than me who got 3%?! The ca bva pay is based on tenure but how did they not redo the pay scales?

My raises have always been great there. Not poor. This raise is just the icing on the cake.

I do appreciate it, but feel it should have been more. They have been underpaying for a while now. The hope is that this will stop people from leaving but it is just a bandaid of the larger issue of poor raises ongoing.

Yes, it is wonderful and unexpected. I appreciate our employer stepping up to help employees in a big way. Other companies are laying people off but our company is helping to retain them.
