For me, it was fear of starting something new at my age. I got over it and left a few months ago and my new job is so much better in every way. It makes me wonder why the rest of you are still there when the company these days has no redeeming qualities. If you can't think of a single reason, leave. It gets so much better when you do.

I was 55 when I was laid off. Found new work and am happy. I'm in software engineering
For me, it was the people. Some great engineers and technical staff, always enjoyed working with. Leadership and direction on other hand...
Couldn’t agree more! Best thing I could have done for my career and job stability was leave Bose. Couldn’t be happier and making a lot more money where bonuses actually get paid out! There are great people at all companies you just have to be willing to make the jump. It’s really hard (and also confusing) to see so many people I used to work with still at Bose. WHY?!
