Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

What has Pearson's role in dismantling K-12?

"The strategy is simple. Once public education is destroyed, over time the vouchers will be cut back to represent a smaller and smaller fraction of the cost of private education. Parents will have to cough up more and more, just like what happened with college tuition between 1980 and today."

@2vka+1j0yzhrY. Good luck with that culture change. Pearson has been inhabited by a dysfunctional culture, driven be short termist, arrogant senior leadership for three decades now. I'm going back to the Prentice-Hall days. Here's a clue. There is nowhere else to buy to hide bad numbers. Student enrollments are about to fall off a cliff. Just 55% of Americans think Higher Ed is having a positive impact on the way things are going in this country...and yes...its from the Bible...The Chronicle of Higher Education. Have fun with that.

All the gobbly go-k about students...outcomes...blah blah blah was all smoke and mirrors. It was about selling overpriced textbooks and "solutions" to people, including K-12 teachers who did not want nor value them.

@2vka+1j0yzhrY ‘those able to do that are long gone’ Last sentence there really put you into the first paragraph of people you mentioned. Brilliant.

@2qjj+1j0yzhrY K12 was sold before AB, during JF time, so what you're saying is basically nonsense, like the rest of this thread, and frankly the majority of everything else on this site. Pearson's not doing great, but the majority of people posting here have zero clue what's going on and are just spouting their own personal gripes. It's bizarre the stuff that people think they know or understand.

The best thing that can happen for Pearson is a total culture change, as evidenced by many of the folks posting here. Unfortunately, those able to do that are long gone.

The biz was offloaded to Savvas, right? Pearson no longer - as a brand, yet retains a profit share? - works the K12 space. I'm not sure what that is and I have zero clue what Savvas is or how they relate to HE. Is Savvas a one-stop for K12 to order materials regardless of author/publisher? Wtf is happening? Well, I mean...other than a sale to the highest su---r, golden parachutes for. Mickey Mouse and his minions, and the rest of your company getting gutted? Tees and Pees, y'all.

The wokeness of public education is terrifying. I suggest you spend some time in a school and witness first hand the amount of sixth grade girls running around referring to themselves as boys. With full support of administration.
