More employees being driven out and fired

Do all companies drive out long-term employees because they're making too much money? I've been pushed to quit and another Assistant Mgr is being forced to leave too.
Anyone else having this happening at their place?

In General long term employees in Retail are considered by Management as reluctant to change, over paid and negative to new ideas. Most companies like B&N that are going through a strategy and culture change have no use for long term employees.

Where have you been the last few years? This has been happening at all retail companies as well as many other industries.
