Gannett announces layoffs in its news division, citing a 'news cost base' that is too high

Gannett, the owner of USA TODAY and local news operations in 45 states, announced Thursday another round of job cuts in the company's news division after a third-quarter loss and an earlierĀ series of cost-cutting measures.

So sorry to read about another round of layoffs.We used to read Amarillo Globe news. After they bought by Gannet , paper didn’t have as much local , regional news. Had too much USA News articles. They also forced $9.00 magazine on us 6 times per year to keep the paper subscription. Paper price too high now at stores now. We don’t buy it anymore. They laid off a bunch of Amarillo employees after merger.
