Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Who Is Proud To Say They Work At Oracle?

It’s hard for me to tell people I work at Oracle. How about you? Customers hate us cause we treat them like cr-p. We are tired and legacy - so 2004. We denied cloud. And we have an embarrassing old narcissistic spokesperson. I only have two years left before retirement so I’m going to hold my nose and finish here. I hope nobody ask me where I work.

I am proud to work for Oracle - I am grateful because I earn my living through it, I raise my kids and family by working at Oracle, I have seen worst and best managers at Oracle and had I waited for long under the toxic bosses then I would have been fired sooner than I might have anticipated. I might have been prouder to be at AWS Google or Microsoft but then I shouldn't stay with Oracle if I am living on its salary but can appreciate this fact. Oracle used to be a dream company for people - the markets changed, the values changed and so did the fact that non-sense became IT business AKA twitter & FB.

I felt the same way. The day I started with Oracle I had a former colleague and CIO that ripped them before he knew I had joined - true story. He was ranting on FB and this guy is a reserved person. That was several years ago. He felt he had been lied to by the Oracle salesperson. This guy is pretty straightforward and honest. So, I have no doubt he was. Good luck on the two years and even if it doesn't workout here, hopefully you can just work a bridge job for the health care and call it a wrap. Do something with little stress. You earned it.

It’s worse when you end up at O through acquisition. You didn’t apply to work there but there you are. It’s like a nightmare you can’t wake up from.

I was proud of the work I did, still am. Further, I was proud to have worked with a great manager and senior director with some of the best colleagues. However, as far as Oracle itself goes, I couldn't give a toss about the place. I do hope my former org are all doing well. I miss working with them. But I'd never go back to O, not even for triple salary.
No one can take that away. Not LE, not SC. They can go drown in an open cesspool for all I care.

I feel great shame and humiliation in admitting I work at Oracle. Everyone else on this MB should be ashamed too.

As an ex O, I had pride working in SaaS marketing. There was real belief that we were doing good things, and then everything came crumbling down when JL was let go.
