The only issue is if they sell the area (RCA) that you are working in. Is that like a surplus then?

Taking a buyout sounds great...sort of. A little over 3 months pay in a lump sum if you get the max amount. Then its taxed up and you barely get half. Why not just work til the end? Making over 40 per hour at the end of this contract. Keep your 5 weeks vacay you currently have. Why start over at the bottom somewhere else? No guarantees there. Want schooling go now on the company dime. If you really just hate it here anymore then leave now. There's no buyout coming. The company doesnt need to buy anyone out. Just read this forum. Everyone on here wants to leave anyway. They can play the long game and wait out the older techs. Reality is the Prem techs are already here being trained and are the next generation. I have close to 28 years but cant retire age wise so im not going to do the company a favor by leaving voluntarily for a few pennies in a jar. Do whats right for you but dont hinge it on waiting for something that most likely isnt going to come.
If they do a surplus(layoffs) package is part of the process. So no package no layoffs no problem!
Manager said there will be no more packages. We’ll see if that also means no golden parachutes when upper management starts taking the axe.
Some of us are not ready to retire. But we have the seniority or years to receive the maximum dollar amount in the package. This new generation of kids do not want to work. Therefore, there are lot of job openings in this market and others that we could easily go to. I am too young to retire but I have many years in this company. I would take the package pocket the money and go work elsewhere; while using the 2-3 years of medical insurance, free schooling, etc. All while starting a new job, creating a new pension and/or 401k with another company. OR you can stay here watch other people leave, get stuck with more work than you can handle, receive a check with only a 10 cent raise every year and watch how the company tries to create a new method of discipline to fire you rather than offer you a package. This turkey is cooked and it's like squeezing juice out of a turnip. Why wait to the end of the road? when you can take the turnoff lane now.
To all who say that there will not be any more VSPP offers, Why? There are now plenty of people who have the ability to retire who did not have the time when last offers were available. If a “surplus “ was to happen then a VSPP is included as part of that process. So then what no layoffs either? Just keep on coming to work and you’ll be paid if you have something to do or not?
Not happening! You had your chance and decided to roll the dice! You lost.
Im waiting too!
