Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Why no WFH Fridays?

I’m 1 of 19 people on my floor today (normally about 50-60). RL & ELT’s corporate overlord greed really showed by not giving us Fridays WFH. “People” my a$$! But hey, collaboration and innovation!

Maybe we should tear down all private housing and put everyone up in Soviet block style cement apartments - in the name of equity of course

Why do you choose to live so far from the office? We’ve been in the same are since ‘84. Don’t complain about the consequences of your choices. Besides, the offices are perfectly equitable with no outside windows and perimeter hallways. Why should some people get to WFH in a nicer space than others?

Working from home take 1.5 hours off my round-trip commute. That’s 1.5 hours I can work.

I think I can guess how productive you would be at home on Friday's based on what you do in the office (walk around counting people).

Giving us Friday WFH would have been a slam dunk compromise. But maybe if you only gave one day that day would been seen as a non-relevent day and taken as a holiday. Though for the majority of people, their job and source of income is too important for them to treat their job this way and take advantage of it.

As the CFO explicitly told us after HR said WFH was an amazing program.

“We are better together and that’s just it”
