Q: If Management doesn’t know its network how could it possibly make good decisions about running it??

A: it can’t,

G.T.F.O. Before the ship sinks..The idea that Selling mass markets and Quantum in order to pay off the massive debts that Lumen owes is a pipe dream!

I read the 41 page report. While parts make Lumen look bad much of the "Suggestions" were from an E911 expert that the state brought in to testify.

I've worked at several of the big telco's and all operate the same. The "requirements" for 99.999 uptime or 5 minutes of down time a year would cost more to provide than the contracts are worth. This isn't Lumen specific. The whole industry is no longer able to provide what customers expect.

I have long said to meet the 2025 customer expectations we would need to at least 5x every bill.

“The bottom-line from commissioners: If Lumen Technologies cannot provide the state with a reliable and modern 911 system, the state will find someone who can.“

That would work for Lumen one less thing to unload.

Companies can recover from tsunamis and earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. But Lumen won't be recovering from its Level3 management, combined with "DEI To Lead" ...

Accurate report and applicable across more area. “The report says Lumen — the parent company of CenturyLink — was ignorant of its own network and unwilling to test the system to find weaknesses. Lumen’s system, according to their experts, lacked diversity and redundancy that could have prevented the 911 outages”.

It is so pathetic the defending of Lumen. These folks are still drinking the “blue” or “orange” Koolaid from management and have 10+ years at Lumen. They also think $100k a yr is a lot of money. Same technology forward folks that can’t spell Cloud but want to talk to you about POTS lines and how Lumen invented the internet.

“That article says nothing. My suggestion is for Lumen to provide Nebraska with a 100% uptime solution along with a quote that includes what that solution will cost over the next 50 years to stay viable.“

WOW!! just Wow!!

Nebraska like ever other state already pays for 100% up time of its 911 system, Lumen failed in its contractual obligation! Hence the need for a investigation by sate regulators..

LOL, .. the damage is done …keep making excuses… I’m pretty sure the Nebraska Regulators have already made up their minds! Lumen most likely won’t be getting a contract renewal..

So Lumen gets slandered by a Nebraska commission and doesn't get to defend itself or respond?
