Hearing news that some functions will be brought back on-shore

Due to a total collapse in service and insane staff turnover in India.

Not shocked good like finding workers. Was laid off in 2019 just few months before 30 years of service. Just celebrated three years with my company I work for now. Great raises and bonuses with a normal work week. So glad I was laid off was only me and my manager in my group. Now last three years my manager is stuck doing everything .

It's alright news. It'll probably take a year or two to rebuild and rehire, and there's no guarantee they won't try to offshore again once things stabilize. Also, if your department is just scraping by than you're probably considered in "good shape".

Wow it seems your a glutton for punishment, the company has been doing layoffs for 20 years. And yet you will come running back if offered a job.

As a former worker before I would ever come back to this company.
I would demand the following ,

A 35% pay increase

7 Weeks vacation

A clause stating if I am ever laid off, I get 2 years severance

@2ovn+1ji3ZVgy - I would go back to State Street tomorrow if they wanted to hire me. It would also entail moving back to Massachusetts. I continue to keep getting contacted by recruiters about various contract and full-time roles at JP Morgan Chase, BNY Mellon and also State Street. I have State Street employees in my network who have worked and continue to work for them for over 20 years. If a young person is currently employed in an unenjoyable role, I can't see why they wouldn't enjoy working at State Street. Many small start-up companies might lay you off tomorrow so why not accept a role with the State Street Corporation.

They are going to have a tough time due to the fact they been outsourcing work for 20years and using H1B workers.
This sends a message the company is not a stable place to work .

Who in their right mind would join this company only to be let go say in 6,9,12,24 months

That is good news!

However, I imagine it would be the new young talent they keep saying they are going to bring in soon.

Which is still great, I do think they will have an issue getting the new talent in with the work from office push though.
