Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Teradata is still hiring...

and folks come to work for TD. So wondering, is the market this bad, so there are no choices, or do they know something we, who want to leave, don't?

Snowflake is public as everyone says here.
Databricks just closed out a whole new level of funding that TD can't even begin to imagine.

Neither of these companies see TD as competition or even on the radar, which you know what, it's karma for when TD was trying to bully these companies.

It's dead Jim.

"You can't see snowflakes books because it is private". Umm sorry to break it to you that SNOW has been publicly traded on the nasdaq for a few years now and as a result are required to publish their financial results. You obviously don't understand what being on the nasdaq means, so best you trot off and read some books before exposing your stupidity again.

Regarding Snowflake that you "can’t see their books since they are private"...is wrong. They've been a public company for 4 years and their revenue and other key metrics blew past TDC several years ago. I left TDC about 5 years ago to join Snowflake and am so incredibly glad I did. Snowflake is a far superior product (built for the cloud) and amazing company. For me, the last straw at TDC was, I started to see numerous very large customers actually starting to migrate off their platform.

I like working at Teradata. It’s better than many of the other companies because you can make a difference. I can’t tell you how many start ups I’ve left before they were bought or went public. To me the pay is good, the work is challenging and the product still has the best ROI. With all the money snowflake and Databricks has you can’t see their books since they are private and their product is still providing a lower ROI according to most of my clients. Pick whichever company suits you best and good luck.

Teradata is ignorant and arrogant.

This is the issue. Those at the top are in cruise control. They know they've bled the corpse dry + soon there will be nothing left.

Customers can see that Teradata doesn't compare to Snowflake or Databricks.

Even if current ELT and the Board were completely replaced I don't think they'd be able to pull out of the death spiral Teradata is in.

It is a tough market, and the people I’ve seen come in the past couple of years tend to be from a different market segment, so it’s unlikely they understand just how bad it is. I mean, all it would take is reading Gartner, but not everyone has access. Or perhaps wondering why their last new customer announcement was three years ago would do it.

I don’t care what the buzzwords are…it is results that matter. First week of February will be interesting.

AI. That’s it. We all saw the desperate branding of the word cloud into everything. This year insert AI into everything. Stale product. Just words. Vision is only on paper. Every quarterly update shows it. Big dip. Then let the words bring it back up. Then report. Then crash. Then repeat.
