Would HPE’s divesting Aruba satisfy DoJ?

Shortly put: if HPE bought Juniper, it could create an even smaller amount of options for that market sector. It would basically just be HPE vs. Cisco at that point.

It would be like if Intel bought AMD. Antitrust laws are to help bring down prices for the consumer via competition. Less competition = higher prices

The way I look at it, pointing to the wireless portfolio is just an excuse..

I think it’s not really a DOJ problem and rather simply that Juniper/HPE underestimated the power of the Cisco lobbyist… there’s a lot of lawyers who making incredible much of money at the moment!

“If the DOJ is blocking the deal now, it’s unlikely they will succeed later.”

When I sat “they” I meant HPE/Junioer. Not the DOJ. The DOJ will win this for sure..

This complaint is funny... read Point 11, states that HPE technology is not superior, so how does it become a competition..

If the DOJ is blocking the deal now, it’s unlikely they will succeed later. The odds are stacked against them, and they will end up spending millions to fight a battle they are destined to lose.

From a public perspective, the damage has already been done. The only real beneficiary in this situation appears to be Juniper (and I don't have any affiliation with either company). I know several customers who are now hesitant to engage with Juniper due to the HPE deal. Should that deal fall through, I believe Juniper's sales will increase while HPE will continue to decline.

Consider the facts: it has taken a year to reach this point, yet the deal remains no closer to completion than when it was first announced. Both companies now possess significant insider knowledge about each other.

With everything now public, things are expected to get extremely messy. The fact that the United States has moved to block the deal makes the situation look even worse.

It seems that personal egos have escalated this situation to unprecedented levels. AN and RR keep insisting that “we have no doubt this won’t go through,” which now appears to be disingenuous. Their primary objective seems to be saving themselves.

This is a classic example of American greed at play.

United States > HPE

Does the Trump DOJ realize that Cisco has some of the heaviest DEI programs of all tech companies? Or maybe nobody has told them that yet.

Top Juniper execs talked too much internally and externally about the deal being an undefeatable and dominant force too early and publicly. Some execs liked to hear their aggressive pitches too much all over Linkedin and such. I like them but that display was a bit of amateur hour.
The deal will happen in the end but the premature aggressive market dominance pitch derailed it. Including Mistman stuff - that team kept operating at an IQ of <60 leaking idiocy, so thanks. STFU with your collective mouths. Please.

Yeah that’s what they’re going with. This will be laughed out of court based on market share alone.

Decreased competition in wireless landscape. JNPR and HPE both sell a product and compete against each other, and combining would eliminate that -- customers would have less choice. From the Cisco side, they fear the combined competitor, Mist + HPE sales reach.

It doesn’t matter. Probably Mist/Aruba but could be any number of things. Just keep in mind it’s really mind numbingly d-mb whatever it is because this merger is a lot of things but anti-trust ain’t one of them.
