Thread regarding Belk layoffs

credit 911 at Belk

Belk’s credit penetration and new account has plunged. What is the incentive for associates to open credit? $3? $5? When belk stands to earn thousands per card application? My associates don’t seem to enthusiastic about $5 per app, and who can blame them?

I never got good reviews because I refused to open credit until they could treat me like an adult. I always asked to be a part of helping them achieve their goals. I just wanted to be approached by letting me know how much opening a credit added to the value of the store and the company by increasing sales. Instead of being treated like associate wanting the best for the company, the answer was "Because we said so..." and.........you'll get a $3 spiff and ........possibly a pizza party!!!!! Uh, No Thank You.

Credit income is the only thing keeping the company on life support...however the numbers were so bad in January...I don't think anyone is spending

I know that Belk pays more on spiffs than other stores like TJMAXX, Koles, and Target. These stores don't pay anything, maybe .50 if that.
