Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Target India Anniversary

So it’s been 20 years of jobs making their way to India and the tide just keeps rolling that way. TES just announced new initiatives for Store Operations in India. Seems counterintuitive since very few of Target India’s employees have ever been in a Target store. Won’t be surprised to see more layoffs in TES in the Minnesota since we have basically been told we need to prove our worth since they can get at least three people in India for one of us. Sad day for this Minnesota company.

It’s clear that the reorganization that had moved disparate groups under the TES umbrella has been in the works for awhile. I worry for the US employees under Anand in India. Is his mandate to move more work to India?

Minnesotans are being played like a fiddle by people from that country and there is zero care for what makes sense, the only thing that matters is moving jobs back to their country.

I have absolutely nothing against the folks in India and many are very hardworking.

The problem is in senior leadership sending peculiar work to India when it makes little sense. They were so proud of how many holiday ads were made entirely in India… Imagine if an Indian or Chinese company had people in the Midwestern tundra develop marketing to their local consumers? There is zero context or “pulse” on what the consumers want. Target has zero stores in India, heck Canada was a donnybrooke.

At this point I wouldn’t even be shocked if they outsourced the entire legal department to a country without US lawyers.

I would agree. Cheaper labor but often shotty workmanship in the code delivered. What happened to keeping jobs in America?

TES services centers dealing with the credit portfolio should take the warnings signs. The decomissioning of TSYS and the implentation of FISERV are not going as planned. Terrible trainings, lack of leadership during trainings, documentation, etc. are all signs of failure.
Could we see TD bank taking over the portfolio at a TD location? Could remote "State Side" employees in TES be eliminated resulting in hiring more contractors within the vendor community?

I don’t think its even newsworthy anymore. Wells, UHC, USB, 3M, Medtronic all offshore loads of jobs every year. The grim truth.

I wish someone in local media could write an investigative piece about the offshoring to TII. Target gets way too much goodwill in Minneapolis and these practices need to be exposed.
