Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Time for Kate to go

Now that the DEI has been cancelled, I wonder how long it will be before Katherine will be removed. She was clearly a DEI hire.

Kai is the more dangerous of the K&K clown show. Mr No Shoes started a secret brokered deal with Infosys back in Q3 for super cheap offshore resources...so yeah all quality will be diluted and our customers will flee in disgust. More LAYOFFS coming curtesy of Kai

Kate is a horrible leader, i keep hearing its her job to get rid of the company but who would give raises to the entire company and a few months later does a rif and gets rid of top performers rather than low performers? Pang was a way better leader way stronger and they chose Kate absolutely no real telco knowledge and got rid of every person who actually knew how to run business, and brought microsoft ex-peera friends of her. Why is she dismantling consumer she should be trying to increase the customer base to make it look more attractive but there is no enough inteligence for her to do the right thing... Verizon and att are growing consumer while she is cutting customers off...

Kate is doing exactly what she brought in for and that is to reduce debt to a manageable amount and company size so that it can be acquired. That’s why company has shrunk and will continually shrink. All the SLT buddies coming are also set for life with golden parachutes after sale.

Omg ..people it’s not Kate’s fault she inherited a mess but then she signed up
For it so let’s get rid of all the mid level so called sakes managers the ones who su-k and their mothers never raised them right oh and btw you can’t combine 7 different back end companies into one name when they are still really separate networks duh you id--ts .. only the field techs and customer facing employees can attest to that Kate has no clue

"Kate Johnson has done more for Lumen than Jeff Story ever did. Grow up and stop the misogyny."

Youre probably right, but Jeff set a real low bar. You could pretty put anyone in Kate's position and say the same thing.

That being said, what has she really done? Besides hiring Hoodie No Shoes and throwing millions at her friend Brene for that Dare to Lead nonsense.

"The company was maki.g money. Employees were making money. All because it had leaders that knew how to run a successful technology company."

CenturyTel had an addiction to buying other telephone companies, cutting costs and running them into the ground, then engineering another deal to goose the numbers. Multiple times this almost failed. Read Glenn's hagiography of Williams. It's all detailed in there.

CenturyTel cut employees wages and minimized investments wherever they could. There's a reason why LC techs make 2/3 of LQ tech wages (and 1/2 of VZ techs). CenturyTel was far slower than other rural telcos in rolling out DSL and later GPON/FTTH. Their Monroe fa-t sniffing was legendary.

Keep drinking your leftover koolaid. CenturyTel was a financial disaster waiting to happen. Just like Qwest and Level3. They deserve each other.

"Century Tel was never a 75 dollar stock and there was never a single split in the companies history. Was able to google that in less than a minute."

You're an id--t and know not what you say. You're obviously from one of the many failed companies that were bought out.

Century link was allowed by the regulators to purchase Qwest, which was on the edge of bankruptcy, because Century Link promised to turn it around generating revenue and reinvesting in the Qwest network to remain a viable carrier!! Century FAILED THAT PROMISE!!

Technology Company? Williams/Post could run a “telephone company”. Look up the Peter Principle.

Quest is where you take your pi-s to get tested. Glenn’s mistake was not knowing how to compete in the large markets Qwest operated in. Far more competition than the smaller one horse towns he ran previously and he couldn’t keep up.

"CenturyTel was always a financial house of cards. It only survived by buying one company after another for decades. Post and Williams were incapable of actually running a company."

You must be from one of the recent shithole companies that were bought (Quest? Level3?). Before then Century was a 75 dollar stock company whose stock split 4 times because it was growing so well. The company was maki.g money. Employees were making money. All because it had leaders that knew how to run a successful technology company. Insert quest and then level 3 buyouts and their executive leader influences and now we have a failing 4 dollar company.

This place was a dumpster fire before they hired Kate, and it will still be a dumpster fire once she’s moved on!

“ Bet you guys miss Glenn Post now!”

If Glen would of kept Century-Tel Century-Tel, we wouldn’t be in this mess. His ego of taking over the telecom world is a big part of why we’re where we are today.

Heard a quote once. “Insults are the defense of a weakened mind.” In psychology some will take that as an insult in and of itself while others will agree. Some won’t even care to think of it beyond its surface.

misogyny and hatred, refuge of the weak mind. maybe throw a racist comment in there to get the MAGA hat trick!

there's lots of things you can dunk on about this company but people like you, if you still or ever did work there are a big part of the problem.

You people are just hallucinating! She’s the one who bought 1 mil shares at $.87. She’s laughing all the way to the bank! She’s got a stake in Lumen’s future. Company is doing what it needs to do as a federal contractor abiding by DEI tear-down. Simple stuff. Everyone from Microsoft to mom & pop shops to universities doing the same. Debt maturities have been posed to 2029 and beyond. Every telecom profile is same. The only weakness is the DEI based hiring that went on the last few yrs in the management and mid level. They are absolutely JUNK!

looks like those are automatic sales to cover some of the taxes when vesting. he still has almost 1.5m shares.

Post ID: @mf+1jm53gkfq

Look who just dumped 87,376 shares !
If the company was solid in any way then you would not see execs dumping 80,000 shares. Lumen is going right back to where it came from, less than $1 per share.

Kate & Kai are the trouble couple...one is all DEI and other is all about offshoring. These low budget cost saving initiatives will erode quality of brand, employees suffer and not too long down the road out customers will bail.

Kate is the one brokering the deals that matter most for the future of Lumen. She may leave after the sale of mass markets once the stock price shoots through the roof. Also Starlink relies heavily on fiber down here on earth for those that don’t know…..

She might already be exiting. She is not as vocal as before and is mostly in the background now. All that HS cheerleader BS was becoming comical with no results.

The ship was already sinking when she arrived, and it’s only going deeper. They likely hoped to sell the company by now or offload more business units, but the buzz around partnerships with Google and Microsoft faded quickly. At its core, this was a business appeared mostly built on the remnants of struggling telecoms—growing mainly through acquisitions and reselling, which offers thin margins. Despite efforts to restructure and stay afloat by spinning off units, the company remains burdened with significant debt. It doesn’t matter who’s at the helm now—the challenges run too deep. Wishing the best to the employees still here, riding it out.

TMO is in beta testing with Starlink. When that completes you can bet TMO pulling out of Lumen's network.

On Tuesday's Market Opening with a sale to Deutsche Telekom's U.S Subsidiary, TMOBILE(TMUS), won't be SOON ENOUGH!

You go, Kate!

Post ID: @en+1jm53gkfq

I thought it might be her time to go as well. It’s an embarrassment to “double down” on our diversity of culture, to only tuck your tail in shame and completely reverse course. Plus the stock hasn’t performed (down approx 17% since taking over).

But then maybe that was never her goal. Why else would the stock price never really be discussed, and in-fact I recall her saying “we’re NOT going to discuss the stock price”. She avoid it like the plague. My guess is the board wanted her to break the company down, sell off unwanted assets and tee us up for a cheap buyout. $50 (or whatever double digit price you want to pick) never seemed like the goal.

LOL.. No!… I’m not fan of Kate, but I’m pretty sure she was hired by the board of directors to facilitate the liquidation of the company through either cannibalism and or disposal, and she’s done her job! Kate will be here until she achieves the Goals set forth by the Board of Directors.. she doesn’t make any decisions, They Do!
