Thread regarding BD (Becton Dickinson & Co.) layoffs

BD's huge white elephant in the room

If Tom Polen was sincerely serious about cutting costs, before laying off thousands of employees, he should have address the useless behemoth that is Franklin Lakes. That entire location and its maintenance is pure overhead. Nothing is created, manufactured, or produced at Franklin Lakes except for wasted space. While plants are being asked to pinch pennies and cut resources, at Franklin Lakes millions and millions or dollars are wasted in fancy renovations, carpets, chairs, etc. Tom should have closed Franklin Lakes, get everyone to work remote or at the plants, and sell that monstrosity of a building that costs millions for the BU's to maintain.

lol yes, all of the kaizen events are discovering "we should've kept this sh-t under control in the first place" - reading the posts and hearing the townhallstoutingt them, it is hard to sit there and act like the other kool-aid drinkers.

FLKS is trying to take all of the benefits while all of the problems are laid on the plants. Good example of people spoiled by hybrid/remote work or who have never worked on a manufacturing floor, they don't think of how things work at the plants with the people who actually have to build the product.

Your flks ops people think they are GOD. They know everything and sit in their little ivory tower breathing down the necks of the plants. Travel down there to intimidate and bulky the plants to pinch Pennies while they’re presenting their BS at town halls and making it sound like it’s all their doing but in reality it’s the poor people at the plants working to death to save and produce more with less. Get rid of the ops flks people asap a bunch of a-holes making way too much money and feeling absolutely no
Pressure work in the plant or get the he-l out. Better yet save Tom more money by not traveling down to all the plants acting ur actually doing work..

Tom demande that when he starts Oma’s ceo on day 1 that the art in the building is refreshed and so he had the facilities team scrambling with tbe art curator to select pieces to hang so MR TOM when he walks in to BD on his first day as ceo his eyes see new art. He had the entire A wing remodeled with huge murals and a “modern feel” to suit his style all while laying off thousands upon thousands of people and shutting down plant after plant. A true pre- Madonna, another narcissist egotiscal BD leader, me me me. The project to remodel the campus from a 80s law firm to something of this century died after they ran out of money remodeling all of 3 areas what a joke. So yes I confirm he spent money putting up art, remodeling HIS A WING aka c suite for the pre-madonnas thst sit around him while the rest of the campus looks beat up and the plants are squeezed to death. Despicable.

I’m in FLKS and I concur .. the building are straight out of the 80s .. an old fashion lawn firm with ripped carpets in offices and beat up furniture not to mention the dust from the ancient carpeting that never gets cleaned. The Howe building Tom’s ivory tower is a ghost town .. dozens upon dozens of empty offices and cubicles. Corporate functions who don’t produce any revenue for the company and feel absolutely no pressure get to post job after job meanwhile the plants are suffering and squeezed fo death “do more with less” the corporate roles do absolutely nothing they’re incapable of setting guidance/direction just a lot of meetings and shmoozing with the right guys who will keep promoting you for lying and doing absolutely nothing. Associate directors, directors , sr directors and even vp roles and all they do is warm chairs , go to meetings and make up BS In town halls and flat out lie. Leadership at bd is lacking to say the least. Those in carree development programs like MDP, EDGE etc get all the promotions because let’s face it if they don’t get promoted the program is a failure while those who are working their butts off are kept buried in their spots with no advancement.

Don't forget all the fancy caterings for meetings, the expensive tvs for every conference room, all the art (yes, i said art) that is used to decorate the walls, the landscaping. So much waste! R&D should be sitting at the plants, not in Franklin Lakes. No wonder they keep hiring people that are clueless and will never understand how products are manufactured. Oh, and damn Cost to Win needs to sit at a plant so they can see first hand the impact of their ridiculous ideas. There is a Cost to Win leader that keeps getting awards and celebrated each year when all he is doing is correct his previous year mistakes. BD Franklin Lakes leadership is digging this company's grave! And don't get me started with the Lakes Quality teams, who are mere puppets of Operations Leadership.

Like the idea of them working in a plant. They don't have a clue.
