I have a feeling they want to save on severances and are now putting pressure on some of us to quit. The expectations have become completely unreasonable and the verbal abuse by my manager has intensified in the last month or so. I can't go to HR over this, because of obvious reasons. I don't care, though. I'll stick it out until they either fire me or lay me off. I'm stubborn that way.

Funny.. all downvotes but still no expansion on what "verbal abuse".
People are overly dramatic. Hope they can your a-s.
Bet this is a gen Z baby. "Verbal abuse". It's work sunshine, not your daycare. Please expand what you described as "verbal abuse" to be taken seriously.
Or did HP not coddle you enough?
Better find a way out fast. Sounds like your number is coming up on a layoff list. But I assure you that none of us are safe.
This is quiet firing. Companies are now doing it to save on severance.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Definitely stay and work in that environment. It's not as if the unemployment rate is under 3% and a million jobs out there.
Or fight back to the abuser? come on.
Don't resign, wait for the severance package. You can get that and your unemployment.
If you have any self-respect, just resign.
