Someone asked an excellent question - What does the IT innovation group do? I wonder that too.

The award is based on internal and external surveys and not on HCSC's soviet era legacy systems which could use a ton of innovation.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
The award is not a big whup. Publications make money for doing programmes as that one. They expect companies to pay for using the branding they offer for being named to their award list. do not trust
Fact: HCSC got voted one of most innovative companies by Fortune magazine in April 23 based on internal and external surveys…I am not in HR 😉. here is the link https://www.hcsc.com/newsroom/news-releases/2023/fortune-americas-most-innovative-companies
There are a few different areas doing innovation but was moved out of IT in reorg over a year ago. Company could stand to be more innovative to be competitive.
as of last week that team is broken up but at least they didn’t lose their jobs so there is that. They are just working in different groups now.
The last post is from someone in their group or HR. Their new boss is tryhing to keep them employed doing fantasy work instead of them moving to jobs where they could do real work. Maybe they don't want real work. That is a group being given a stupid reason to exist. a better question is why they are being protected. I think I know why.
The question is what do they do…innovation dept under corporate strategy (formerly IT) works on initiatives to develop new and innovative products, experiences and services as well as testing new and emerging technologies. They do a lot of tech scouting, and human centered design and foresight and help the organization look at things systemically. Innovation as a department is about 6 or more years old. As with any program in a business it is important to show value.
Smells like desperation
They are now under a different leader and working on things that can show them being useful to the company. My thot there is that this is their last chance to show they can be Useful or they will be disbanded.
Oh no, your company too? It’s like a disease:
Thank the Silicone valley startup…..now failing business model for this:
Step 1. Hire Chief Digital Officer
Step 2. Hire T shirt wearing Product Owners and Designers
Step 3. Name your department “The Dzgn Labz” or “Co-create” or randomly add a “Z” Inovatingzz
Step 4. Spend 8 million making an app spelled with extra “z”s that no one asked for. “CareZ” or “Zealth”For the patient customer journey.
Step 5. Outsource all talented IT workers roles to India to pay for it.
Step 6. Profit!
