Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Are the Cigna merger employees all illiterate?

This is an administrative nightmare today, I hope this isn't any indication of the quality of work we'll be inheriting.

There were people who didn’t properly have the right applications installed, who didn’t have the right accesses granted, who didn’t have the ability to access a smartphone, who were running into basically connection issues, etc.

I talked to over 60 people who ran into issues during the merger. No one of them had issues with the instructions. Each one was an issue due to Cigna or HCSC incompetence. The fact you automatically blame the employees? That makes me believe that you are incapable of critical thinking and empathy. I certainly hope that you don’t represent the larger workforce at HCSC.

HCSC is complete trash. Leadership su-ks, tools su-k, org alignments are trapped in the thinking from 15-20 years ago.

Anyone who says HCSC is a great place to work, STOP LYING!!!

What a sh---y thing to say! Why would you accuse the Cigna people of being illiterate? This transition looks to me like HCSC was not prepared. We haven't gotten the resources we need from HCSC, nothing is easy or intuitive, and other than a few emails, it doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. If it weren't for my peers and my team, I wouldn't have made it through these last 3 days. Hcsc isn't impressing me so far.

Just go into org chart and reach out to a non Cigna manager who can get you some help.

I don’t think not following written instructions is out of their control

You NEVER get a 2nd chance to make the FIRST impression. Congrats for demonstrating that, evidently, HCSC has allowed a toxic hostile environment to thrive. Oh, we can read, alright. And we know how to WRITE AND ADD TOO.

Don't let a couple people ruin the experience. Obviously something hurt their feelings. HCSC is a great place to work and you all will see that. People are actually respectful and collaborative.

This thread is very disappointing to say the least on multiple levels. I would love to think that Cigna employees would be welcomed by staff as a display of simple decency since it certainly was beyond their control and that they would not be disparaged. Seriously? I am sure someone will share this thread with Sr. Leadership and I agree they will be appalled.

Cigna employees were provided with the service desk number to address any issues. However, they expressed no desire for this arrangement, similar to HCSC employees. Notably, Cigna CEO sent a lackluster email to employees hours after they had arrived at work. I can only imagine that the HCSC leadership would be delighted to see this thread.

The folks on my teams, was the conflict with Azure when trying to get into the VDI. different security Protocols, and Azure had to be removed by Admin.

I’m not sure where all the hostility and condescension is coming from but if it was simply because there was an influx of Cigna folks calling the helpdesk, I hope you don’t have “stays calm under pressure” on your resume. For the months leading up to this transition, us Cigna folks have been told we would get ample instructions and support and the transition would be relatively seamless. We got a two page IT document and many folks ran into road blocks throughout that entire set up process. We got zero communication from our cigna leadership or HCSC leadership, people don’t know how to access their health insurance, tasks we were told were VITAL to do immediately in workday to ensure we get paid didn’t pop up until almost the end of the day yesterday…so we’re sorry if folks called in more than you were anticipating. Nice to know folks are so supportive and welcoming. Maybe a discussion with your leadership about change management and transition planning resources would be more productive than sophomoric insults on the business version of Reddit.

Why are the HCSC folks so hostile? We didn't ask for this any more than you all did.

@ea+1jpqv4kzy the ankle biting is really unbecoming and the vulgarity is unsavory. I didn't realize asking adults to be mindful and adherent of the instructions they're given would cause such an uprising.

Are you aware that many of us found out before leadership from either company addressed it? Transition day was a mess on both sides. Many former Cigna employees are now worried for their jobs because we are seeing layoffs. While we understand the stress on the HCSC side it would be great if you could also acknowledge our stress.

Nope. Radio silence from HCSC leaders. Completely off the grid and unavailable.

As an HCSC employee I'm embarrassed at the comments I'm seeing denigrating former Cigna employees who are joining HCSC. I sure hope you all are experiencing a better welcome at work this week than what you're reading here. It is just shameful.

Give us some grace in this movement. If y’all had your shitz together maybe we could have gotten into the systems. This was only in the works for how many months? And all of this happening while your leadership team fired our hr leader and walked him out in front of employees? Fired people who worked for HCSC before. Talk about pi$$y b—chs. WTLF is wrong with you. Good luck to us all having to work in this type of an environment. And for the people that complained about Cigna. I’d give up salary to go back if I’m not considered “the best and brightest”. Good luck to HCSC when the people that know how to connect all the MA dots walk. And they will. Starting this week. Great investment you made and will be happy to see it all go down the drain.

This post should have been taken down immediately. It was so derogatory and filled with nothing but hate towards Cigna employees transitioning over. Completely uncalled for.

For some users, there were errors despite following the instructions. The team putting together the instructions did a great job, but no one can anticipate all potential issues when it comes to a switch like this. The virtual desktop experience was different for many users depending on individual systems. The instructions provided in the email, and on other resources instructed conveying employees to contact IT for assistance, which was happening. Appreciate the patience and collaboration as we work through this together as a team.

I felt the instructions, the video especially, was really well done. The main issues I saw people having on the Cigna side appeared to be tied to being Mac users and having trouble getting RDP setup. Many people were receiving Azure errors when trying to get into the VDI. Beyond that everything seemed to go pretty smooth on IT setup.

The org structure stuff however is an absolute disaster and we are getting conflicting information from HCSC on it. Lots of people are freaked out about that part because many people do not know who they report to now.

@ad+1jpqv4kzy
Thank you for providing more insight to the issues being experienced. This is a large undertaking and they did decide to onboard a large number of employees at once so these kinds of issues seem to have been expected. The last time we had a large on-boarding was with our Accenture contractors and there were plenty of issues with that too. We can be as prepared as possible but these things will happen. Also, if the Cigna guys could stop calling the HCSC service desk for now we would appreciate it. :)

Are you one of the people that received the instructions? If so, can you provide any evidence to show the instructions provided were not easy to follow? From my experience this almost always comes down to user error.

Wow, someone’s definitely having a rough day over something that’s been in the works for months.

A choice was made to paint all new employees in a negative light, which is unfair. OP, if you’re frustrated, maybe go for a run, hit the gym, or take a breather—don’t come here taking cheap shots at everyone.

To the Cigna folks, welcome! There are plenty of great people here who are eager to collaborate and learn from you. Just a heads-up—there’s been a lot of uncertainty around HCSC lately, and the rumor mill suggests layoffs may be on the horizon. Because of that, people might be a bit guarded, as trust has taken some hits recently.

That said, looking forward to working together!

Hmmm looks like HCSC was slow to send information to access systems. Looks like a lot of things were just thrown together and HCSC had time to figure this all out..... yet here we are🥴
