Calling all helpful, friendly HCSC employees...

Hi, give us the pleasant welcomes and share the good things about working at HCSC. Tell us the good things we won't read on the Hub.

We used to have a forum but they have censored it and no one can post now. If you comment anything critical on the Hub, someone from Marketing will delete it now. There were some stories that came out and people were shocked at how they treated some workers in different states. And someone will reach out to you to delete a post too.

The Good

  • Layoffs do happen, but seem to be much less frequent and usually on a smaller scale than what I see from many of our similar sized competitors.
  • API payment in March is nice. Sure, its disappointing if it's smaller than the previous year, but it's still nice to get it.
  • Generally speaking, most people are nice and easy to work with.

The Bad

  • Merit increases are low, but this isn't exactly exclusive to HCSC.
  • Advancement opportunities can be hard to find in some silos, especially if you don't live in Chicago/Dallas.
  • There are bad teams with bad management. I was on one for 5+ years and there's not much to sugarcoat. If you're on one, it can be a nightmare that isn't easy to escape.
  • Senior leadership is not great at communicating with lower levels. They often come across as condescending and out of touch, and often aren't very familiar with the work their people are actually doing.

People are smart, passionate, kind, love to volunteer, and care so much about making peoples lives better, lots of ideas and long tenure

It's a great place to work. I love what I do, my team and my work friends. I have had some great bosses over the year but the thing is a lot of people do less and get away with it. Sometimes, it feels like there is no incentive in doing a good or bad job considering how the bad ones get away by projecting otherwise but that may be because we are a matrix organization and most of our managers do not know the individuals and rely on feedbacks

HCSC is a big company, so nothing to explain here.

There are a lot of good and caring people, and most people are helpful.

Navigating HCSC internal sites is difficult. You will learn where things are at.

Make a rule to have all email go into Zone 3, HCSC deletes email more than 60 days old outside of Zone 3. Annoying AF

In general it is not a bad place to work, just a lot of churn right now with the merger.

You get paid to listen to town hall meetings where little of value is actually said. If you enjoy the c-suite patting themselves on the back, this is the place for you.

Working here is like being in a parody of corporate life. The workload is a joke—half the team could be holograms and no one would notice. People are literally getting paid to exist. Our tech is so ancient it probably qualifies as a historical artifact. Meanwhile, performance ratings are basically a participation trophy—show up, don’t burn the building down, and bo-m: a solid 3 and 100%+ bonus like clockwork for the past 7 years. It’s corporate coasting at its finest. But hey, if you’re into premium work-life balance with minimal “work,” this place is a dream.
