Thread regarding IBM layoffs

RAs and laid off people tagged with Low Performer?

I was laid off this month. Yesterday I received an IBM email that said "Your manager has identified you as a poor performer. My manager told me ALL people RA'ed or laid off are automatically tagged as a low performer. Is this true?

Everyone that is laid off ends up with a do not rehire flag anyway. Nor does IBM provide references other than to say your position and when you worked.

No I was on the list a few times never once labeled low performance just downsizing. Don’t take it personal you’re just a number to them.

@g3+1jrgn009t - Renegotiate with them. Perfect time to get more out of them since no they realize you are important to what they want. They fu---d up - don’t need to punish them but you can make your situation better for yourself.

@cc+1jrgn009t - Albany is broken. Disfunctional at best and has been limping along for some time now. It’s more favoritism and cronyism then what’s other have said on here. Albany leadership is in desperate need of a refresh.

When I was RA'd excuse I'm not in IBM's plan. Received 60 day notice instead of 30 day cause of big project account was doing. Account propone the project for another 3 weeks. All of a sudden they need me. Manager went running to DPE and PE for help getting me extended to 6 months. All of a sudden I'm in IBM's plan. Rolled up the pants pulled out the shovel cause it was getting deep with all their excuses

While I don’t agree with some the language and undertones in these posts. It would also be wrong not to acknowledge this dominating Albany site as well. Not exactly the same as there are different demographic colonies and some conspiring together but it’s very prominent. Take one look at leadership charts alone and it will jump out at you.

An employee may be RA'd when he/she has too much dignity to su-k up to the powers that be - and even after receiving good, if not excellent, performance reviews. There's no room for an employee who is not a member of the club.

@af

I'm afraid It's a case of mis-identification - it is not a tribe of monkeys from India, but a troop of rare Indian baboons who try to impress their coworkers with their multi million dollar salaries, outdated technical knowledge and lame Indian jokes. They exist as a tight knit colony in Armonk for fear of offending a bigger red Baboon whose name rhymes with ru-p..

"Monkeys in India?" Come on now. This is a professional site. This isn't the place for those types of insults.

Happened to me in Australia.

RA’d due to my job being “eliminated” in a “restructure”. Then the role reappeared two months later, filled by a younger person at a lower salary band.

It’s all smoke and mirrors at IBM.

In North America, the only way you can get a backfill (but in India or Poland) is by labeling the person being laid off as low performer. There is no automatic low performance labeling as your manager claims. But his org may be forcing him to do so in order to (double) contribute to the 70% headcount in cheap locations target.

No, that’s not true. Managers do this so they can get a back fill and it makes them look like they are doing performance management.

I care because it's insulting.

Why do you care, after being let go from IBM ? IBM did cut your job to hire monkeys in India.
