Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Dismal IBM USA Job Market

Has anyone ever seen since a dismal IBM US job market?. There are virtually no US openings, maybe 2 or 3 across all IBM divisions. This is the worst that this has been in many many years. This has to be a major red flag to candidates is the US looking for IBM job opportunities. IBM executives have put IBM in this unfortunate state of no job opportunities. This has to send a signal to candidates that IBM’s business is struggling in the US, IBM is not in solid financial ground, and that IBM looks only to hire cheap labor in countries like India.

tariff on all outsourced jobs and all H1-Bs at $400,000/year minimum.

Do you realize that Trump hires visa employees in his resort.

Musk loves hiring them at Tesla and Starlink.

So, no chance of anything from Trump or Musk to make them more expensive.

Trump hates workers.

@m8
Arvind is increasing revenues and is doing a great job at it. Ginny had quarter after quarter of declining revenues. Arvind is probably the most influential CEO since Gerstner. He literally saved IBM. I saw a deleted post that was disrespectful of him In the early 90's IBM Suffered heavy losses. Gerstners leadership turned IBM Around

Arvind is a deep thinker and IBMs acquisition of Red Hat was a game changer. Additionally these other acquisitions will position IBM to be leaders in tech. I love that he is pledging 150 Billion for AI.

Kavanaugh wants IBMers to hone their skills and learn more so that IBM can compete. I believe IBM is positioned

@jg

Sorry to disappoint you but Alvind and his P1mpmunks have the morals and ethics of a tribe of sewer rats. Did you even consider all the numbers of people all over the earth that this lunatic has laid off since he became the CEO and President of IBM ? Not many outside India will even shed a bitter tear if he was to die in the night. And he has been more than handsomely compensated for all the layoffs he ordered. What say you to that ?

No disrespect intended to offshore developers, but good communications skills along with core technical skills are needed for any job related to sales including sales engineers.

When I see these demeaning posts about Arvind. It makes me sad and bothered

Comparing to Alvin and Chipmunks is awful.
Arvind is a man of ethics and morals and integrity

A Krishna: “In USA, the jobs that won’t go to India are the jobs that can’t be done there: for instance: sales jobs requiring customers interaction and quotas, innovative jobs that involve patents, etc…”

All jobs are being offshored. My last account all support went to India no US support except for 3 SDM's, PE, DPE. Anything needs to be touch they call a cheap 3rd party company to come in.

No, this is the worst that it's been in my three decades in this godforsaken company ... by far! And just imagine how many applicants you're competing with for each of those very few job openings!

The message is super clear - we don't want US workers; we want cheap Indian workers. 'Nuff said.

Can’t imagine anyone graduating from college these days looking to hire on at IBM…talk about a bad idea

IBM continues to think RCG recent college grads are the way to go and most of IBM's "recruiters" are in S America etc not the US and they put ads in LinkedIn saying you do not need years of experience just apply. SMH. At IBM these days, at least in sales, you get hired, go to GSS global sales school where you are told you are the smartest people on the planet, then you get your laptop and then you get your quota and thats it. Go make it happen! And after 6 mos if you come up short you are RA'd. Rise and repeat. Dumpste fire.

There are multiple aspects to the current US based jobs situation.
1- The US technical population background is increasingly weak. It has been challenged by the know how of Chinese engineering breakthrough (DeepSeek, as an example).
2- The US technical corporation has been invaded by Indians. Most of these Indians have split allegiance, the primary allegiance to their motherland. So, these people have a different understanding of the concept of cost. In the long run, they work for the prosperity of their motherland (India).

Write your representatives and tell them to put a tariff on all outsourced jobs and all H1-Bs at $400,000/year minimum. If this doesn’t reverse soon, the US, not just IBM, will not be in control of its data. The time to act is now.
