Who remembers hearing aids?

Digital car radio project was "Lightning" (I was there). Ridiculous scope creep, prohibitively expensive, sold a total of 12 systems to one of the Italian car customers. Dev cost over $100 million. Complete lack of oversight and scrutiny. Mercifully k___ed a year later.

What was that digital car radio project? I forget the code-name, but truckloads of money and effort was poured into it, before management just shoved it off the cliff.

"Imagine if there was the Bose museum of products that never happened ..."
The featured exhibit would be the Project Sound car with the "BOSE" license plate.

Thats interesting- What was the difference between Hadrian and Gwen?

Hadrian changed into Gwen. There are functional Hadrian prototypes, since a small build happened. I liked Hadrian better than Gwen. I also liked the AR promises that never materialized. Hadrian was another cancelled project. Imagine if there was the Bose museum of products that never happened (cancelled … oops we changed our mind after spending so much $$$ invested in R&D).

I worked in RDG and we were always told not to use the term "ear hook" but I will Bose made the most uncomfortable open ear headphone with a clunky/unplesant rigid ear hook that made your ears hurt after a little bit of use.
Also- the case was a joke! A charging port, separate case to charge, why not just make the case have a charger connection and plug in the case to charge (or make it a battery case)
What a shame, because I heard these were tested in Orlando for a marathon, then the program got cancelled? I think it was called Hadrian and then it was changed to Gwen and quietly rebooted? Can anyone tell me why that happened? I also heard the same with NC700 they delayed them for nearly a year. What happened?

Lots of work went into this headphone. It’s well engineered. It’s sad to see the direction that Bose has been heading for years now. It breaks my heart because we know there is a lot of hard work behind product development. The company lacks vision. Bose has been playing the catch up with the competition game for over a decade now. We all know it and we put a lot of effort into redundant products. RIP Gwen.

When Bose is the only game in town, a new overpriced Bose product can be successful. Folding like a cheap lawn chair when competitors start to catch up shows a complete lack of confidence in Bose's ability to function in a normal competitive market.

Management seems to be saying that Bose is playing a losing hand. What does that say about the future?

I repeat my promised from an earlier thread. I will meet you on The Mountain Road on the day that the next owner removes the Bose sign from the R&D building. For some odd reason, the Bose sign is still there in Stow, on Rte 117. But the "O" has been removed from both sides of the sign by vandals. You can drive by and see it; the sign is a good summary of the company's current status. Falling into disrepair.

Finally end of Bose sports open earbuds. And most probably they will stop frames.
